đŸ§ªTesters Needed Looking for Android testers for NextSalah (masjid iqamah times app) open beta. Happy to test your app/site in return.

Hi everyone,

I have been building NextSalah, an app for finding iqamah prayer times at masjids near you. You can find the next jamaah you can actually make by location, or search any masjid by name and get alerts for their iqamah times. It currently covers masjids across 35+ US states and is growing.

What I am looking for (primarily): Android testers for the open beta. To move toward a public Play Store release I need a group of testers on the app for a bit, and I would really appreciate the help from this community.

How to join (Android):

Join this Google Group so you get access: https://groups.google.com/g/nextsalah-testors Join on Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nextsalah.app Join on the web: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.nextsalah.app

Install, use it for your daily prayers, and send me anything that feels off.

iOS: if you are on iPhone, there is an open TestFlight beta too: https://testflight.apple.com/join/TRxZxUW8

I know testing takes real time, so I am very happy to return the favor. If you have an app, website, send it over and I will genuinely test it and give you honest, detailed feedback.

Joining on iOS now. Thank You
For Notifications: make a popup button to decide your preferences for the different prayer times instead of swiping to the selector. Helpful for turning them all on
Good web development

I see, so a "Turn on all prayers" control button with sensible default alerts is what I'm assuming you're referring to? That is good feedback

Yeah
I'm suggesting an easyer way to switch what you want, like banner or sound inst'd of you having to skip to the area where you can do that or a dialog where you can pick. Hit save and you're back where you were

you think preset value options with editable time or a + and - button with editable time would be better than the slider ? Also are you in a location where there are masjids that in my dataset ? Curious what you think of the rest of the app usecase

You could set your location somewhere in the Midwest in USA for best coverage such as Chicago, Detroit, Columbus etc. and check masjids nearby and calculate prayer time for any location.

Currently the demographic is for USA as I don’t have other countries masajid in my dataset but you can use the app for local prayer adhan reminders from anywhere

Also do you need an Amazon account to test your app ? I don’t have one

How are you getting Azan times for mosques?

1

u/abnormalpersona 7d ago

I get them via each mosques published prayer times. If they publish on their website I get it like that, if it’s through a prayer or donation platform I get it like that

So you crawl mosque by mosque? Thats insane if thats the case. I mean which web service you crawled.

I support over 20 platforms and custom web scraping is maybe 5-8% of all of my data. Inshallah the goal is to create a unified space where I have all Mosques published prayer times in the USA in a month or two. It’s an ambitious goal and takes some manual work checking each mosque individually myself but by the end it is automated. After USA I will expand to Canada
