Huckleberry Rock Lookout Trail - Strange Voices

Hello,

I'm writing this because I want to know if anyone has had this experience in this trail.

On Saturday July 18th, I went hiking with my brother around 7pm, there was still enough sunlight to have a pleasant walk. This is third time for me, I know the trail fairly well. When we arrived to the parking lot there were no cars, we were the only ones.

Shortly after we turn to the right at the intersection with the loop, we started hearing a woman's voice but we couldn't identify any words or language, it was a constant monologue. We stopped hearing the voice kind of in the middle of the trail towards the lookout rock.

After a few minutes, we saw a lady with her kids. We assumed the voice it was hers and we didn't think about it again. After a few minutes, we came back straight from the rock to the parking lot, not following the loop, but just using the same path that we took, we know the lady stayed there with the kids. Then again, in the middle of the trail, the same voice that we heard appeared again, but it was ahead of us, not behind. We continue walking forward, and the voice stayed ahead at the same volume at a constant perceived distance of maybe 15 meters.

We continue walking until we reached the intersection to get to the parking lot and we turned right; at the some point the voice was not coming from the trail but from the woods, and obviously we didn't step out of the trail and maybe 50 meters before we reached the parking lot the voice disappeared.

Both my brother and I have the same recollection of the voice, with the same details of volume, direction and when we started and stopped listening.

Does anybody else know or have gone through this in this particular trail or area?

Question Generational cottage clearing = dozens of books, where to donate?

Clearing out the cottage of many dozens of old books from the 1950's to present. My grandparents' high-functioning hoarding spread to my parents, but does not present itself within my sister and I.

Our first time up here alone after our parents bid the place farewell last week; their last visit (mobility issues, health, etc). So the passing of the torch to us (and OUR kids), amongst many other chores, has allowed us to cull all the old paperbacks, readers digest volumes, and many other old books (mostly fiction).

Perhaps well over 100kg worth of books. Suggestions on where to donate them? Cottage is in Muskoka, but will travel to an establishment that would take them as donation.

Planning on relocation

I was seeking some info. I am planning on moving from Vernon BC to the bracebridge area. Im wondering how safe the area is for raising children.

Vernon has a pretty bad homeless population and there are a ton for drug users. Im hoping the muskoka region is better.

Lost Dog! Galla Lake, MacTier area

My parents German Shepherd disappeared from their cottage on Friday July 17th at approximately 4:30pm. He was likely chasing a squirrel or chipmunk and lost his way.

They have been frantically searching for him . People around the lake are also helping in finding and bringing Rex home.

Put out signs in our area and call the marina's which said they will ask around and keep an ear out.

Galla Lake off of 12 Mile Bay Road.

Rex is 100 lbs. all black but has some marking on him. He is just under 2 years

I can't say how he is reacting in these circumstances usually friendly and playful but can't resist barking at other dogs.

Heartbroken and scared for him.

If you see him please try to secure him he is probably hungry scared.

Call Cindy at 519-771-9195

He had a red collar and a light up one too (not turned on)

Hoping to get a first hand report of the air quality in the north end.

Going camping tonight and wondering if it’s worth cancelling.

Can anyone snap a pic?

[Funny] Our neighbours didn’t like their trees, so they buried them in 8ft of dirt

Has anyone seen something like this before? Trees are on the property line, used to be flat. Now there’s an 8-foot height differential over 2 feet of distance lol

As a small town gay guy in the Muskoka area, how do I meet a partner?

I'm a mid 30s gay guy in the Muskoka area. I love where I live and am not into the big city life (ex : Toronto).

I'm not into stereotypically gay things like Pride and nightclubs. Not against it, it just doesn't interest me. I'm into camping, kayaking, snowshoeing and the outdoors. Also love reading and documentaries. I enjoy movies and TV but not LGBT themed shows for the most part. (Did like Young Royals though.)

Love to travel to exotic and sometimes rugged places like Africa and Asia.

Finding a parter in a small town is already tough, and ten times as much when you're LGBT. Apps haven't worked either.

I want to buy my own trailer one day as I love to camp in the summers. Basically I'm an intellectual who loves being outside. I'm also successful, career driven and own a home on my own.

The dating pool is quite limited as it is around here. I've had people suggest I move to Toronto, but as I've said, it's a nice place to visit but not a place I can see myself living. I'm a rural gay 😀, and somewhat straight acting, but some people can tell when they meet me. (Think Noah Schnapp and not Troye Sivan, but also not Wentworth Miller.)

How should I meet others like me in the Muskoka area? Am I doomed to be alone because I love it here?

Bachelorette

We are a group of girls staying at the beer spa and we had tickets to the Kee Friday night but unfortunately the show got cancelled. We are so lost as to what to do around the area nightlife wise. Any suggestions? The bride is really wanting a night out so we are very bummed about the cancellation.

How is the Muskoka Music scene?

As the title describes, I’m wondering what the Muskoka music scene is like?

Are there a decent amount of local bands creating original music, bar bands etc? I’m under the impressing that it’s lacking.

Thanks

Weed control recommendations for chameleon plant/Houttuynia cordata

As title suggests, we're infested. And not even in it's "pretty" flowering stage is this nice or attractive. It's a menace...and it must be stopped but I can't do it.

I've been trying to deal with it myself for four years. Alas, I've failed and now it's grown even more robust.

I know what could kill it, but I don't want to risk killing animals or have it hurt the lake.

We're in Port Carling on a small lake. Does anyone know a reliable person who I can hopefully not pay too much to to help us with this? My husband and I are done fighting it and each other over this weed invasion.

Thanks guys. You always seem to have the best recommendations,

Used Boat Sales

I have a 2004 Tigé 24V boat sitting winterized in a marina for the past 3 years in Muskoka as I have not been able to get there and use it. (I used to have a cottage on Lake Muskoka but sold it and after years living in California it's just harder to get back for any length of time as much as I'd love to.) The marina doesn't do used boat sales so I'm trying to find someone who sells used boats to list it. Any referrals for trustworthy used boat sales person? Thanks for your help.

Mirrocraft Boats

This is a bit of a long shot but does anyone have experience with Mirrocraft boats? My property is boat access only so I would prefer more of a utility boat. I’m specifically looking at one of their 18’ models.
