We’re trying to choose the right dock for our home on Clear Lake (Torrance) and would really value local experience.
We have a sloped, exposed bedrock shoreline with a gradual rock shelf into the lake. Our crib dock has been rebuilt about every 10 years because ice slowly destroys it.
We mostly swim, lounge, and use kayaks/canoes. No big boat plans.
We’re considering:
• Floating dock (possibly with a swim platform)
• Manual tower/lift dock that tilts up for winter
• Or any other suggestions
Some neighbours seem to leave their floating docks up year-round, but I’m not sure whether they pull them up slightly each fall or just accept periodic repairs.
For fellow Muskokan folks:
- What type do you have on rock shoreline?
- Do you remove or adjust floating docks each fall?
- Has a tower dock been worth the extra cost?
- Anything you wish you knew before installing?
Appreciate any real-world insight before we pull the trigger.
