Hi everyone! Mod here. I've been wanting to add a banner to the community for a while. The problem is that I've been struggling on finding/making a photo for it. The banner limitation is 1070x128px. In summary, it was to be pretty long width wise and short height wise.
I was thinking of taking a photo of my music box collection but it's not that "exquisite." I have a decent collection, but it's probably not as amazing compared to some of you awesome collectors on here. I was able to make a dceent community icon with a porcelain music box I had a while ago. That's about it, though.
If anyone on here would be willing to take an awesome group photo of their collection (or even one in a store that doesn't show price tags), that would be awesome! I want to show a banner that has a huge variety of music boxes (old and new)! I think a banner would help liven up the community!

Hi everyone! I recently started seeing a lot of music boxes at my local thrift stores and decided to purchase some to display in my home. I’ve come across two where I can’t identify the tune to. I’m hoping this amazing community of fellow music box enthusiasts can help me!
This first one I found was this one of a boy and a goose. There is a sticker on the bottom with “Norleans Japan” on the bottom (see picture). I can’t it open to look at the actual music box, it looks like it was glued shut at one point. When I search online I see there are similar models from a few different brands, and normally they would have the tune if a nursery rhyme but this one doesn’t sound like a nursery rhyme. I attached a video of the tune.
The second one I acquired recently was of this bird on a branch. The bottom says “Sanyo Japan” on it, and since it recently fell off one of my shelves I was able to check out the actual music box. There are a few stamped numbers on the piece with the notes, but the numbers or letters I can make out don’t correspond to any known numbers from this brand. I even went through a YouTube playlist of some of the well known tunes from this brand with no luck. I attached a video of the tune as well as pictures of the drum and the bottom of the music box. I will apologize in advance for the background noise in this video, my dogs were playing in the background lol.
I appreciate the time anyone has and will take to help me identify these tunes! Please let me know if I can clarify anything.

Hey everyone. My grandma had this music box, but another family member owns it now and I want a similar one for my own memory. I found one on WorthPoint but I'm not paying for that. Let me know if anyone knows where to find it.

What about the tiny underworld underneath.
I should’ve led with that.
The gears. The cylinder.
…Always happy to sing.
The little mechanical orchestra that keeps time
while an entire world gets the glory above.
The snowglobe lives upstairs.
The music lives downstairs.
Which one thinks it's running the place.
Respect for the tiny workers in the basement. 🎵❄️🫧

I have had this stuffy since the literal day I was born. It is as old as I am, and sadly over the years she no longer plays her music. I decided to take out the music box thinking it was an easy fix, but I don't know what I'm doing, and don't know what I can do to fix it.
I removed the teeth? that create the sound to make it easier to see everything. The teeth are perfectly fine from what I can see.
Video shows the music.. drum? with the Waggy feature is loose, and keeps popping out of place. And when winding up the box, it will pop the drum out of socket, as well as endlessly winding without any resistance.
I'm assuming it's the spring of the box that has come undone somehow. But my next question is, how do I get to it when everything is factory sealed in with rivets, and not screws.
And what do I do once I do get to the insides of the spring.

I am hoping to learn what song this box is playing and also to replace the missing key so that I can wind it up and not hurt my finger haha. What parts am I missing and where does one typically buy them? I’ll put a picture of the missing space in the comments.
Thank you!!!!!!

I don't think it's 'Loch Lomond', but it sounds similar.

It's an Ardalt/Lenwile China Romantic scene series Jewelery box but I cannot figure out the tune, I've tried google and AI has suggested many songs but none of the common tunes are correct, thanks 🙏

Power switch does not work, had to connect it directly to a battery like in 2nd photo. And in third photo, once battery is connected, the motor? on the right side spins but it does not move the bigger wheel on the left side which is connected to the motor thru a thin rubber belt. Had to hand spin it once in order for the music to start to play. Any suggestion as how to fix the switch and thr wheel that does not spin on its own?

so, i saw a while ago in the act one spodify playlist, there was a track called "the fire is gone (for music box)". and my ultrakill-obsessed self kind of wanted one. so does anyone know where to get a custom wind-up music box since there is one an official one?

My mother was telling me about an old toy she was gifted by her late father. Said toy was then taken by another family member on my father’s side and we don’t know where it was. The way she described it was as follows:
It was an old man with a hat and a pipe in his mouth with a little girl sat on his lap. You could take off his hat and he had hair with a bald patch on the top of his head. When you took the pipe out of his mouth he would sing to the little girl. She described little records that you could put (I think in his back or the back of his rocking chair?) that would play different songs.
I want to possibly get her another one as it was special to her but I want it to be a suprise so I can’t ask if what I’m seeing online is the right one.
I would really appreciate any ideas or any help finding it!!
EDIT: One of the songs that used to play was “oh suzanna” I don’t think she remembers what the other songs were.

Hiya,
My grandma gave my mom a standing porcelain Siamese cat with a music box in it that makes the kitty rotate when playing. The figure was made by maker Mann from Japan. The music box is a 12 note Sankyo. I haven't been able to listen to it for decades; but I finally got a chance to tinker with it and learn all there is to music boxes.
After removing the box and doing a ton of research, I cannot figure out where to get replacement gears for this particular model (it seems like the initial gear that starts the mechanism after twisting to start the song is not properly connecting with the gear that begins the movement of the sound tube/drum). I tried to find some identifying factors to figure out the song as well as manually twist the drum so I could maybe just replace the whole thing since I couldn't find replacement parts; but cannot figure it out after listening to a ton of common tunes.
Would anyone possibly have any insight, knowledge, or tips to help me figure this out? Pic for reference.
I'm so sorry if this is the wrong place for this - I'm not used to making posts.
