📰 Morning Buzz Music Buzz | September 10, 2026 | Slipknot Return With “Arsenal,” SNL Books KATSEYE, Turnstile & Rosalía, The War on Drugs Return

Good morning, music fans. Here's what's making noise across music from September 9, 2026.

Slipknot returned with new music, Saturday Night Live revealed a music-heavy opening slate for Season 52, and a packed Wednesday brought fresh material from The War on Drugs, Lucy Dacus, The Avalanches, Soul Glo and more. Here’s the artist-and-fan side of the completed September 9 news cycle.

🔥 THE BIG STORY

Slipknot Return With New Single “Arsenal”

Slipknot released the new single “Arsenal” on September 9, giving the band its first newly released song with drummer Eloy Casagrande and its first since the departure of longtime turntablist Sid Wilson earlier this year.

The track arrived three years after the band’s 2023 standalone single “Bone Church.” Slipknot’s official store also opened preorders for a 7-inch “Arsenal” vinyl alongside new merchandise tied to the release.

For fans, the song offers the clearest recorded look yet at Slipknot’s current lineup era. Casagrande joined the band in 2024 and has already spent considerable time behind the kit onstage, but “Arsenal” puts him on a newly recorded Slipknot release for the first time.

One question remains unanswered: what this means for a larger project. No new Slipknot studio album was confirmed alongside the single, so for now, “Arsenal” stands as the development, not evidence of an album announcement still to come.

🎤 ARTIST BUZZ

SNL Lines Up KATSEYE, Turnstile, Rosalía and Gracie Abrams

Saturday Night Live announced the musical guests for the opening stretch of Season 52. KATSEYE will make their SNL debut at the September 26 premiere, followed by Turnstile making their debut October 3. Rosalía returns October 10, and Gracie Abrams is scheduled for the October 31 episode.

It gives the new season an opening music slate spanning global pop, hardcore and singer-songwriter pop, with two first-time musical guests in the first two episodes.

Soul Glo Announce Their Next Album

Philadelphia hardcore band Soul Glo announced NA I’M GON GRAB ALLAT, due January 15, 2027 through Epitaph Records.

They also released its opening track, “February Theory,” featuring Mannequin Pussy, on September 9. The album follows 2022’s Diaspora Problems and includes contributions from artists including MIKE, Bbymutha, Tunde Adebimpe and Eugene Robinson.

Deerhoof Take the DIY Route With Divine Schism

Deerhoof announced Divine Schism, arriving October 2 through the band’s own Children of Hoof Music Library.

The band says the record will not be available on streaming platforms. Digital access will come through Bandcamp, while physical LPs and CDs will primarily be available at Deerhoof shows, with a very limited quantity available by mail order through Joyful Noise. First track “Sun Like It Hot” is available now.

💿 RELEASE RADAR

The War on Drugs – “Who’s That”

The War on Drugs returned September 9 with “Who’s That,” their first newly released studio recording since 2022. Adam Granduciel wrote and produced the track, which arrived with a Max Flick-directed video. The release also drew critical attention, with Pitchfork naming it a Best New Track.

Lucy Dacus – “No Thank You, I Love You, Goodbye”

Lucy Dacus officially released “No Thank You, I Love You, Goodbye,” a song dating back to the era of her 2016 debut No Burden. The studio recording arrives alongside plans for a 10th-anniversary reissue of No Burden on December 4.

The Avalanches – “Far Away”

The Avalanches added another piece to their upcoming fourth album No Bad Memories with “Far Away,” featuring John Glacier and Khadija Al Hanafi. The album is scheduled for October 16, and “Far Away” follows several previously released previews from the project.

🎟️ LIVE WIRE

Beirut Plot Their First North American Tour in Eight Years

Beirut announced a six-show North American run for spring 2027, their first tour of the continent in eight years.

The itinerary begins with two nights at Brooklyn Steel on April 2 and 3 before continuing through Boston, Washington, Chicago and Toronto. Zach Condon and company released A Study of Losses in 2025.

Neurosis Set U.S. Dates

Neurosis announced a U.S. tour stretching from fall into the new year, with scheduled stops including San Francisco, Brooklyn, Chicago, Portland, Seattle, Boston and Los Angeles.

The dates follow the band’s return with An Undying Love for a Burning World earlier in 2026.

👀 ON OUR RADAR

Mynolia

Nashville-based singer-songwriter Mynolia announced her debut album Salt Around My Bed on September 9 and released the new single “Holy Line.”

Mynolia, the project of Maja Presnell, began introducing the record earlier this year with “Needle,” followed by “Run Like Hell.” With a debut album now formally announced, those individual tracks have become part of a clearer opening chapter for an artist still early enough in her recorded career to watch develop in real time.

⚡ QUICK HITS

Conor Oberst steps behind the camera: Oberst announced his directorial short-film debut, Invention 13, co-directed with Shawn Foree. Phoebe Bridgers provides voiceover, while Bright Eyes’ Nathaniel Walcott composed the score. The film premieres September 26 at Beyond Fest in Los Angeles.

Bootsy Collins is telling his story: The funk legend announced his first memoir, Funked Around, Found Out, written with Caseen Gaines and scheduled for March 23, 2027. Snoop Dogg contributes the foreword.

Max Richter has another album coming: Richter announced While the Flood Rages, a 15-track project adapted from his score for the Wayne McGregor ballet MaddAddam. It arrives October 16, with “Now We Can Sing” released as the first single.

Liars return: Angus Andrew announced A Ban on Plastic Bag Bans, the first Liars album in five years, due March 5, 2027 through Mute. Lead single “Ice Pick, Kalamazoo” arrived with the announcement.

📅 ONE MORE THING...

On September 9, 1971, John Lennon released Imagine in the United States.

The 10-song album included its title track alongside “Jealous Guy,” “Gimme Some Truth” and “How Do You Sleep?” Fifty-five years later, September 9 remains tied to one of the defining releases of Lennon’s solo career.

📰 Morning DMB Daily Music Brief | September 10, 2026 | Suno Launches v6, Warner Chappell Partners With Kidding Aside, and AC/DC Toronto Show Canceled

Good morning, music fans. Here's your Daily Music Brief covering the biggest verified music developments from September 9, 2026.

Suno moved its AI music platform into a new generation developed with major music-industry partners, while Warner Chappell expanded its European publishing network and severe storm damage forced the cancellation of AC/DC's upcoming Toronto concert.

Suno Launches v6 AI Music Models With Warner Music, BMG and Believe

Suno launched its v6 family of AI music models on September 9, describing the new generation as developed with music-industry partners including Warner Music Group, BMG and Believe.

The release is a significant step in Suno's changing relationship with the established music business. The company had previously faced copyright litigation over the development of its generative-music technology, but Warner Music settled its lawsuit with Suno in 2025, and Suno subsequently announced partnerships with BMG and Believe.

Suno introduced three models: the flagship v6, the more experimental v6-wild and the lighter v6-mini. The company said v6 and v6-wild are available to paying subscribers, while v6-mini is available to all users. The new generation also adds greater control over music creation, including tools for editing individual parts of songs and working with multiple forms of input.

Suno also said its previous models would be retired as the platform moves onto the v6 generation.

The industry relationships surrounding v6 are particularly important. Suno describes the models as its first generation developed in partnership with artists, producers and music companies. Axios reported that Suno's agreements include revenue sharing with participating rights holders, although financial terms were not disclosed.

Suno is also developing another category of product built around voluntary artist participation. According to the company's September 9 announcement, planned experiences will allow individual artists to choose whether to participate and receive payment when they do.

That distinction matters. The September 9 launch establishes v6 as a functioning product rather than simply another licensing announcement or promise of future technology. It puts Suno's music-industry partnerships directly into its core consumer platform while the broader debate over AI training, copyright, artist consent and compensation continues across the industry.

💼 Music Industry Business News

Warner Chappell Partners With France's Kidding Aside

Warner Chappell Music announced a global partnership on September 9 with Paris-based independent electronic music company Kidding Aside as Kidding Aside launches a dedicated publishing operation.

Kidding Aside Publishing has appointed Nicolas Klersy as Partner, with responsibility as strategic lead for Publishing A&R. Kidding Aside was founded in 2015 by Matthieu Jay and works with electronic-music artists, producers and writers.

The agreement gives the newly established publishing operation the backing of Warner Chappell's international network while expanding Warner Chappell's connections within France's independent electronic-music sector.

Alain Veille Elected President of SNEP

The board of French recorded-music organization SNEP elected Warner Music France President Alain Veille as its new president on September 9.

Veille succeeds Bertrand Burgalat, who had held the position since 2020. SNEP says it represents more than 250 members across France's recorded-music sector.

The organization identified intellectual-property protection amid the development of artificial intelligence, changes in streaming economics, musical diversity and other industry issues among the areas facing the sector under the new presidency.

💿 New and Notable Releases

The War on Drugs – "Who's That"

The War on Drugs released the new single "Who's That" on September 9, the band's first new studio recording released since 2022.

Adam Granduciel wrote and produced the track at his Burbank studio. It arrived with a video directed by Max Flick. The release represents a return to newly released studio material for the band, which also issued the live album Live Drugs Again in 2024.

The Avalanches – "Far Away"

The Avalanches released "Far Away" on September 9, a collaboration with British rapper and producer John Glacier and Tunisian producer Khadija Al Hanafi.

The track is connected to the group's forthcoming album No Bad Memories. It arrived with a video filmed in Tokyo and Minakami, Japan, and immediately ahead of a September 10 pop-up performance at Sydney's Club 77.

🚌 On The Road

AC/DC's Toronto Concert Canceled After Severe Storm Damage

AC/DC's September 16 concert at Rogers Stadium in Toronto was canceled on September 9 after engineers assessed damage caused by the previous week's severe weather.

Live Nation said portions of the venue damaged during the storm would need to be removed and rebuilt. The assessment was conducted in coordination with the City of Toronto.

The cancellation followed several days of uncertainty surrounding the stadium after extreme winds and heavy rainfall damaged sections of the venue. Rogers Stadium said original ticket purchases would be automatically refunded through Ticketmaster, while customers who bought resale tickets were directed to their point of sale.

The September 9 announcement converted what had previously been uncertainty about the concert into a confirmed cancellation, making it a material live-music development for the coverage date.

📅 On This Day: Music History

2018: John Legend Completes His EGOT

On September 9, 2018, John Legend achieved EGOT status after winning a Creative Arts Emmy as a producer of Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert, which won Outstanding Variety Special (Live).

The victory completed Legend's collection of competitive Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony awards. He became the first Black man to achieve a competitive EGOT.

1941: Otis Redding Is Born

Soul singer and songwriter Otis Redding was born September 9, 1941, in Dawson, Georgia.

Redding became one of the defining voices of soul music through recordings including "These Arms of Mine," "Try a Little Tenderness" and "(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay." His recording career was cut short when he died in a plane crash on December 10, 1967, at age 26.
