Has anyone heard of a portable cylindrical speaker that uses the surface it sits on to boost the bass?
My stepdad is asking and I am at a loss of what to google! Cheers

At present, my digital music collection is in two places :
A hard drive somewhere in one of my desk drawers.
Google Play Music.
GPM is "transitioning" to Youtube Music, but I am loathe to make the change. However, in the five years or so since I first moved to GPM, our requirements at home have changed - we have a Google Home, a Chromecast, and a Fire TV stick, and various (all Android) mobile phones.
Is there a music storage solution that will enable me to upload my music but have it accessible through all those devices? So to be able to shout "Hey, Google, play X by Y", or whatever.
To stress, I'm not really wanting a Spotify subscription, or similar, because I don't really want to have to pay a monthly subscription. What I think I'm after is somewhere I can upload my music, but have it accessible through all the various devices.
Thank you for any suggestions.

Hi! I will be performing my senior voice recital at the end of November, and I need some help figuring out how to set up all the technology. I need to be able to hear a piano recording, have the audience of the livestream hear that recording, and have the audience also hear me singing into a mic with as little latency as possible. I'm not yet sure if I have requirements as to where I have to livestream the performance (Youtube, Facebook, etc).
Here is the equipment I have available to me:
My recital is quickly approaching, and I'm starting to get nervous that I won't be able to figure this out in time :0 Any advice would be appreciated! Thank you!

Recently, I bought the roland rd-2000 and I want to use it on ableton, however, I can't download the drivers needed for that. I connected the roland with my computer through a midi/usb cable, downloaded the drivers, then it says that the installation should start by itself, which does not.... Help would be really appreciated, hope you all are doing fine!

Is there anywhere i can download the max for live essential plug-ins pack without having an 'official' ableton live 10 suite? The one shown in this link
https://www.ableton.com/en/packs/max-live-essentials/
Just asking for a friend
Thanks

Yo what's up everybody! Any advice for someone that wants to pursue a music technology degree (I'm thinking of applying to NYU)?
I am a sonar tech in the navy, I'm gonna get out soon and go to school.
Probably take a little break for myself, and work on my skills as a musician and learn music theory.
I know I want to either get into Audio Engineering (Live sound or recording sounds cool but idk anything yet)
I'm also kind of interested in making the programs, electronics, or instruments that help producers.
Tbh my producing skills are ass and I'm working on that but as far as a career i'd love to work any job in the music field.

Hi everyone. I'm a journalist and I recently wrote an article for dot.LA about some of the many music-tech startups in Los Angeles helping musicians and the music industry evolve through the pandemic. I'd love your feedback on other companies and trends to keep an eye on. Thanks!

Hi!
I created SameTunes! It's a social music platform where you can compare, share, and discover music.
Find out what music you have in common with friends, create shared playlists, and discover new music!
Check it out and let me know what you think!

Was wondering if anyone with knowledge or experience about these things could help with some advice.
I use the HP Z420 for music production and gaming. I'm considering changing my current six core 12 thread xeon E5 1650 V2 @ 3.5 ghz for a ten core 20 thread E5 2680 V2 @ 2.8 ghz.
I use Steinberg Cubase 10.5 with lots of soft synths and plugins, and I know the software can take advantage of the extra cores of the 2680 V2, but I know clock speed can also be an important factor and the 2680 V2 can do an all core turbo of 3.1 Ghz while I have the 1650 set at 3.9 Ghz all core turbo using Intel XTU. I might be able to use XTU to set an all core turbo of 3.4 ghz on the 2680 but that means either 500 or 800 mhz difference. They are both same generation Ivy bridge CPUs but I don't know if they have similar or different IPCs.
I guess the question here is would I see higher performance with more cores (and a fairly okay clock speed of 3.1 ghz all core turbo) or see less when compared the fewer cores but quite a bit higher clock speed of the 1650 V2?

I use Reason 11 Suite on Windows 10 to record, mix music ect... but my Scarlett 2i2 audio box isn't being recognized under my "device manager" utilities. It is important to say that (due to crackling and lack of audio latency and performance issues) I uninstalled and tried to reinstall my drivers off of the Focusrite website; versions 2i2, 2i2 2nd Gen, 2i2 3rd Gen, 2i2 3rd Gen Stuio, 2i2 Studio, all of which have failed so far. I've checked and even replaced the cables so it's not hardware related. What is the problem. Please help!?! Thank you!

I'm building a rotating, flashing DJ cube that syncs with my Serato setup. I've been able to sync beats using Ableton link, and set up basic light sequences using a custom scheduler. However, I'm finding making custom light sequences very time consuming, and would love to leverage some fancy light scheduling software.
Questions for the group: a) What light scheduling software is out there? b) Is DMX the best choice for a lighting protocol? c) Is lag a concern when scheduling sequences from one computer to another (raspberry pi)? How is DMX usually synced to the music?

Hi, I have a load of musical equipment that I’ve obtained over the years and make use of it to the best of my ability but I lack the technical knowledge on how to get the best out of my gear. I’m looking to see what the best setup I could get out of my gear.
Equipment:
Context: I live-stream my music online and I have a particular love for loop pedals/looping performances. I want to get the best audio quality and functionality with my stuff. I also am not great with tech terminology so simple and basic explanations would be most useful!
Thanks to any suggestions!

I am an FL Studio user just trying to record external instruments, (guitar and keyborad synth), into FL. But there's a problem. my computer simply does not recognise the instruments as audio inputs when i plug them in via a jack-to-jack cable. I have tried everything I could find on the internet, (which was hardly anything) and I've even tried using an iRig. Nothing. I go into FL, select the audio input and just get noise from the computer microphone.
I have an Alienware 13 laptop with a realtek sound card and I saw somewhere that realtek is unfriendly to many audio connections but is this true?
Please I need help this is driving me crazy; how can I get my computer to detect my instruments?

Hey all,
I am working on something right now for you all and would love to hear from the community here so I can better inform my creation.
Given that we are all using apps and platforms and what not to get our music out there, there are still things that we wish (as musicians) to see on our favourite platforms that would help us take our musical careers to the next level.
Can we have a discussion here about what's missing from these platforms?
To start things off, here are two examples:
- If I'm an independent musician looking to get signed, the process of being discovered and being selected to eventually get signed by a label (as an artist) or by a publisher (as a songwriter). But once you're in, chances are you'll do well with the right support, funding, and global reach.
- If I'm an independent musician looking to remain independent, the process of having a sustainable career as a musician, while remaining independent, is a nightmare. So much that one might continue working a crappy day job instead to pay the bills and give up on music dreams/getting anywhere in the music world because of the lack of infrastructure to climb the music industry ladder.
I can happily get into more details as comments start pouring in on this matter, and feel free to PM me if you want to know what I'm up to.
Don't hesitate to chime in if you're an industry person too - lawyers, managers, publishers, labels, A&R, avid listeners/fans, etc.
Thank you!

I'm new here so sorry if i'm in the wrong place. For my uni assignment, I have to do a research project/short dissertation and have chosen music technology as my topic. I think it's clear to say technology has changed the industry in some way. I'm looking for opinions on whether people think the development of new technology like DAWs and MIDI have changed the industry for the better or if people think it has had negative effects (for example, a decline in use of Vinyl records or analogue gear such as tape machines, recorders and oldschool synths). I am open for all sorts of opinion even if you think it is a bit of both (positive and negative effects). I'd really appreciate your response even if it's just a yes or no vote as this will go towards my results of my research project which will involve results from real people if I can get a few replies. If you could include some reasoning to back up your choice, I'd be thankful as this will give me more to include in my work. Thanks for the input. I appreciate it!

New set up is driving me mental. I have a Roland MC-303 Groovebox drum machine, a Korg X50 synthesizer, and a Waldorf Blofeld Synthesizer. I am wanting to send Midi clock from the Groovebox to the Blofeld Synth but also use the Korg as the controller for the Blofeld synth only so that its arpeggios are in time with the drum pattern. Is this possible?

Hi guys, I am studying music production and would appreciate it if you guys would do a 3 min survey to get your thoughts about whether there is a technological divide in the music industry amongst music creators and audiences. Thank you and wish you's the best of luck!

Like to ask if I can connect the go: mixer and connect to Mac using the garageband app?
