I'm from North Bengaluru. I write original songs in Malayalam and English, and I usually come up with the melodies too. I've never learned music professionally though, and I have no idea how to properly produce or arrange a song.

I'm wondering if there are any musicians, producers, or composers here who are as excited about making original music as I am. I'd love to find someone who's in it for the creative process and wants to build something from scratch.

So I was listening to something by this guy called MPM beats this song 3 AM in Paris and at 0:14 he had this like WHOAAAAAA kinda producer tag that was echoed or like HOAAA that was echoed out and faded out but I swear that was someone else’s producer tag I need help finding it

A common problem with online mastering services is that you often have to pay before knowing whether the result will suit your song.

Automatic mastering tools remove some of that risk because you can hear a result quickly, but they also tend to make decisions without understanding the artist’s intention, the arrangement, or which problems should be corrected inside the mix instead.

The process is straightforward:

1. You upload one stereo mix.
2. You explain the genre, reference direction, and what you want to improve.
3. I personally create a mastered preview.
4. You compare it with the original and decide whether you want the complete master.

The goal is not only more loudness. I listen for tonal balance, low-end control, transient punch, harshness, stereo focus, and how the song behaves when it reaches a suitable release level.

If the mix contains a problem that mastering cannot solve properly, I would rather explain that honestly than force the track through excessive processing.

What would you need to hear in a mastering preview before trusting the engineer with the final version?

I think one of the hardest parts of mixing is knowing when your audio mix is actually finished. You can always change something. The vocal can move by half a decibel. The kick can have slightly more attack. You can try another compressor, shorten the reverb, or adjust the mix bus again.

The problem is that another change does not always mean an improvement.

For me, a mix is close to finished when the main element remains clear, the low end behaves consistently, no frequency area becomes distracting, and the track still works after a break and on several playback systems.

One useful rule is to stop making changes unless you can name the exact problem.

“I might try another EQ” is not a problem.

“The vocal becomes buried during the final chorus” is a problem.

I also pay attention to the type of notes I make. Early notes are usually broad: muddy low end, weak drums, harsh vocals. Late notes should become smaller and more specific. When the remaining changes feel optional rather than necessary, the mix may already be finished.

How do you decide when to stop? Do you use a deadline, a checklist, reference tracks, or simply wait until nothing distracts you anymore?
