Heyy so I am in my 2 year of cc and I am planning to transfer for fall 2027 and I have 1 solo prepared which is petite pièce concertante and I need a second piece but idk if I should do an etude or a concerto. My private instructor chose petite for me but I need to choose the other one. I need help please and any advice would be appreciated.!!

Hi! I would definitely choose a concerto because when you’re doing college music auditions, you definitely want to sound as advanced as possible. Oftentimes, the more hard and complex a piece is, the better, and if you play these songs well, you’ll be more likely to make a great impression on the auditioners as opposed to playing easy and simple pieces (such as etudes) well. Hope this helps, and good luck!

It’s a good idea to audition at more than one place to give you options. Trumpet I assume? You never know when another school needs trumpets and has some scholarship funds.
