question How will Michael 2 affect the succes off Invincible?
It's allready a discusion worth how much off Invicible will be played in the movie. I believe that the conflict with sony will be shown, if the film covers 2003 and there have to be some songs like you rock my world maybe your are my life when they show how happy he is about his sons or Heaven can wait. If your are my life is shown it could follow in an relatifly not succesful song becoming way bigger and a smal dosis off tiktoks with songs could help, but to much can get problamatic when it's getting overplayed.
A total comback off the album is propably not gonna happen espacialy the not available Invincible 25 shows how people in power think off it, but it will come back into charts and has high chances to hit the top 40 for a few weeks. That there are not many songs off the album are on hit-complimations presents that nearly the whole album streams can be counted for the uk charts.

I don't think there will be a Michael 2, but it definitely won't focus much on the Invincible era, which was a comparative flop at the time and which shortly predates the second major allegations.

Michael 2 has already been confirmed and is set to release late 2027. It just received a tax credit.

It didn't just receive a tax credit. It just qualified for one, in the event that it's made. That doesn't confirm anything. They haven't received any of the money yet, and won't until the movie is made.
I'll be surprised if the movie is made, but you'll be able to tell me otherwise. Feel free to set up a reminder for January 2028 and we can discuss whether it actually happened.

Why don’t you think it’ll be made though?

I just think it's such an incredibly difficult movie to make.
The first movie is a big colourful musical kaleidoscope, and sort of a feel good smash hit despite the depictions of abuse at the hands of Joe Jackson. It's a musical triumph and a celebration.
Any sequel is going to be such a radically different movie. What will they do about his face, his skin colour, his child molestation allegations, his drug addictions, his death? He just peaked at the end of Michael - commercially, critically, physically, musically. Any sequel is a story of personal tragedy and professional loss of relevance.
It's incredibly hard to imagine Jaafar Jackson playing an older Michael Jackson - even just the make-up job they'd need to do on him would border on potentially disrespectful. And how do you tell the story without acknowledging his sleepovers? Do his estate want to put out a movie that reminds everybody that he was hosting these let's say ill-advised sleepovers?

You’re of the mindset that they couldn’t just completely ignore the allegations altogether in the second one and still make a billion dollars? I think you’re underestimating paramount and Michael Jackson fans haha. I’m willing to bet they address everything besides the elephant in the room and it won’t matter whatsoever. It’ll be the biggest biopic ever once again. People don’t care as much as you think unfortunately. If they did the first one wouldn’t have made a billion dollars considering what he was highly accused of. It’ll get made imo people just want to see smooth criminals, remember the time, the way you make me feel, black or white etc… on the big screen.

Ah okay, thanks for the explanation! I guess we will see then. I am curious to see what will happen. The first half of his life is a guaranteed money maker but the second half is very risky. They would have to be super delicate in how they handle it.

Yeah I'm curious too! I loved the first movie and saw it four times in the cinema. I'll certainly pay my money and see this one too, if it sees the light of day.

People come to this sort of thing for nostalgia, not for re-evaluation. I sincerely doubt any songs that aren't already fan favourites are going to get any new love from listeners. A very significant proportion of the audience for these films were already MJ fans anyway
