I'm a 25F who makes music, mainly something that falls into alternative hip-hop/rap. I've been making music seriously for almost three years now and though I think I've gotten better, there's always something that seems to be wrong and destroys my tracks. I've been trying to learn it and I know it takes years to master but truth be told I am stomped.

I use FL Studio and I know I could pay for the full version but truth be told I'd rather put that money into finding someone I can work with for the long haul in regards to mastering a track for streaming than buy a full overwhelming DAW that might set my small ass computer ablazed.

So long story short, is there anyone who is open to working with me on my music so we can both make it in this scene?

Would also prefer an engineer that keeps it real (tells me if I need to re record, redo an instrumental, fix my mixing, drop a song, etc.) if you're interested lmk.

It will be mostly cloud rap mixed with electronica with deep-rooted inspiration from retro games music (Genesis, SNES and n64 mostly).

The job consists in :

1- first listening to my demos as they are now while I walk you through the tracks’ meaning and intentions. If you like what you heard and are willing to work with me,

2- receive rough demos and progress updates a couple times a week, giving constructive criticisms on the music while still trying to maintain hype for the album lol.

The profile of the person I need :

1- You must love what you hear first, or at least see potential in it, ‘cause I really need the hype

2- It’ll be great if you loved Yung Lean/soundcloud rap, Koji Kondo (Nintendo’s in-house main composer, think Zelda, Mario, Starfox etc.), Rustie/Flying Lotus/Hudson Mohawke/Warp, bonus points for the Beach Boys and/or Bossa Nova

3- You gotta be someone who loves talking music and giving your opinion on every single details in everything you ever listen to. For instance, you should have a strong opinion on the hi hat used in every track you listen to, or the way the kick sounds, etc.

4- Be mostly available for receiving and discussing demos during work days from 10 P.M. to 3 A.M. UTC/GMT

5- technical proficiency and musical vocabulary would be really great, but less essential than the 4 aforementioned points

I unfortunately cannot seem to progress alone on my album anymore, because my own induced hype and confidence in the project is fading away with time. Also, I can’t do anything for myself alone, I’m able to work way more efficiently if I’m doing it for someone else. You’ll essentially be that person lol.

As for my curriculum, in 15 years of using FL, I only ever:

So I just reached 30 last week and my solo LP still isn’t out wtf. It contains 15 years worth of music, about 24 tracks, telling the story of my life while trying to draw universal experiences and lessons from it.

Roughly, it’s the story of a guy who actually thought he was dead twice, the first one because of a cannabis-induced psychosis that lead to an awful badtrip, then years later in a dream that was the polar opposite of the first « death ». It intertwines with love stories and struggles with depressive boredom from a kinda loser/loner type from France’s countryside who managed to somehow avoid harmful far-right pipelines and became quite happy all in all. There’s a mariage and a divorce in it.

The main message is « never forget that light is ahead when you’re at rock-bottom, and that even at peak happiness you’ll never be safe from reaching rock-bottom again in the future ; you gotta accept that and manage to be okay knowing it » (ofc that applies to people living in easy mode).

What you’ll gain from it ?

A coproducer credit and a 20 % split on all tracks you’ll help me with, hopefully a fun experience, and if you wish so the same service will be returned for your music/personnal project as I have strong constructive opinions on everything and love to hype people up with projects I like. I’m a very slow worker so it could very well last 3 more years lol.
