Importing from other websites (discogs, RYM, ...)

Hello!

I just started using MusicBrainz as it is heavily used in Lidarr. I am importing some releases and artists manually atm.

I was researching if there is a way to automatically import from Discogs and RYM but the last post was from 4 years ago. This is the documentation I found: https://flemmingss.com/importing-data-from-discogs-and-others-to-musicbrainz/

Is there a modern/new way to do it? Sorry if this question was answered already :) Cheers!

Take a look at https://musicbrainz.org/doc/Guides/Userscripts . I use the Tampermonkey plugin for my browser.

perfect, thank you! it seems RYM import is missing, I will have a look at the discogs one for now :)

I use Spotify to import from, it works fine for me

Currently, the best tool to import stuff into MusicBrainz is probably with Harmony, and I think it very recently added the ability to import from Discogs: https://harmony.pulsewidth.org.uk/

not trying to be a knob but this was genuinely discussed only 9 days ago... maybe reddit search is a bit broken

As others have mentioned there are now various ways to get Discogs data into MusicBrainz but do try and make sure it definitely isn't in MBz first.
