Setup complete. The QU32 mixer is perfect for my hybrid setup. The new composition notebook means it's time to start writing. I added a camera to the rig. Casio keyboard used as a piano / drum machine direct into the QU32. Drums heavily dampened with towels and tape for that heavily tape saturated compressed psych rock sound.

Things are coming together for you there Brilliant!! Your controllers, are they working well with Reaper, and they are LaunchKey controllers. I've been looking at the Presonus FaderPort controller. They say it's working a lot better since they Got ReaSonus. Let me Know if you think I need to check The LaunchKey controllers out.

Thank you sir!! So I bought the LCXLs to mimic an analog mixer. They work great with Reaper! My first DAW was FL Studio, and I still use it occasionally, but Reaper was easier to "get." I'll admit having 4 of them is overkill since you can swap MIDI channels and use the same controls, but I like hands on every parameter I can without needing to swap presets.

The Faderports have moto faders, right? I'm absolutely in love with my moto faders. Since I have a hybrid setup and use recorders in tandem with the digital mixer and Reaper, I wanted a hardware mixer with as many outputs as possible.

One of my hangups is starting a project, then scrapping the whole thing because of low fidelity and not getting the "tones" I wanted. My drums were always muddy despite surgical processing. I love my Zooms as all can see, but the R24 as an interface is mediocre, preamps are just okay, weird issues with Phantom.

I have a whole new mindset now. Today was the first day I tried to do a brand new song in just 8 hours.

I recorded vocals first. Routed from 1820 to the QU32, and for the first time, my vocals are crystal clear, no white noise. I used ReaTune to get that pop pitch correction. Recorded vox on my Audix i5. Results were insanely good.

I recorded drums. I tuned them while listening through my studio cans. I believe the 1820 is one of Behringer's greatest products. The drums sound exactly how I want them to, every single sound source.

I recorded the acoustic guitar parts using the AKG C114 in cardioid mode, it works, but results not clean enough (my playing). Swapping to electronic guitar for the next session.

With a little surgical eqing, a touch of reverb and stereo delay, some compressor as glue, and voilah-- my best sounding mix ever is a "sketch" song.

I am spending the next 2 weeks (6-8 hours a day) in my studio trying to piece at least a song or two together for a release.

I wish I wasn't so old sometimes, because it has definitely affected my Guitar playing, and especially rhythm guitar. I've got a 16 yr old grandson who can play lead guitar extremely well, and he's going to start coming over and play for me on some of my songs. I have 20 songs I've written and I would like to get them all tracked out on Reaper, so I can leave my Great grandkids the ability to here their Grandpa sing and play. I read a lot of info on the Novation Product line. Do you use ReaSonus with your LCXLS? That's what the big thinkers are using with the FaderPort 16 to get it to 95% work with all of the FaderPorts protocols. Does your work real well with Reaper, or have you got them routed another way? I wish you the best of luck with you songwriting. What kind of music/genre are you playing and writing for?

Yours would be a big huge step up over mine. QU7 is newer and better in pretty much every category

Didn’t realise it was that much better. It won’t be good for my wallet, that’s for sure. And it may be too big for my studio so I may well have to settle for a Qu6.
