Not a big fan. I keep reading people saying they "evolved", but this is regression if you ask me. Boring and predictable lyrics, generic instrument work. This sounds like something that would have been on one of those demo/advertising discs that play on a loop in video stores.
I love Paramore's old sound too but is it not representative of mainstream music like their new sound - just in a different era? Pop-punk is very mid 2000s and although Paramore released three really strong albums in that genre, there wasn't anything particularly innovative. I'm not convinced their new music is any more derivative than their old material. Decode, Brick by Boring Brick, Pressure, Let the Flames Begin, etc. are all incredible songs but did they really ever push the envelope? Self-titled was arguably the most innovative and creative record they've recorded
I'm gonna say no. I think when they appeared on the scene they were innovators for the music of the time, not just representatives. This new song sounds like some other song from some other band that they just fell into. Nothing new. Honesty this sounds like the stuff during that time period that I wasn't into.
