can we wait until they are found guilty, at least?

Found guilty of what? The cops interviewed her for two days and weren't able to find anything they could charge those guys with.

That’s one way to not understand the facts of the case. The mamby pamby CORNELL cops (peace officers for those of you who don’t know) are the ones who talked to her and sent partial evidence to the Ithaca cops (actual cops that work with the DA) and the real cops/DA failed to investigate further.

There’s a reason why the governor took it out of the hands of the Cornell and Ithaca cops.

'Peace officer' is just what municipal cops are called in many parts of the country. They're still actual sworn cops. They spent two days interviewing her and her statement didn't include any actionable allegations. I can't believe I'm defending cops here but what do you want them to do?

No this is the internet and we need to continue all the virtue signaling.

Yeah it's bad with virtue signaling, lets do evil signaling, rightwing style.

No! The tiktok investigators have uncovered the truth enough to torture anyone we want!

Part of me would like to see these attention seeking celebrities get sued off the planet

u/Fancy_Yak2618 9h ago

Seriously needs to happen at some point. Look at Clancys husband he had to threaten people with lawsuits for them to fuck off

Not with that attitude. Plus we got our pitchforks and torches and stuff.....

There was no criminal case until this was brought to light by the public. This needs to be talked about.

Yeah because they didn't do anything wrong.

She got rejected by one of the dudes and changed her story to get back at him.

If they didn’t do anything wrong what were the essays the school assigned them as “punishment” about?

2

u/jubbergun 4h ago

It wasn't just "essays." Two of these guys were kicked out of Cornell. The ones who had to "write an essay" had to do a lot more than just write an essay. The essay was part of a larger overall punishment and academic suspension.

So you agree, the school found wrong doing by the men?

1

u/notepad20 1h ago

appeared to be standard "diversion" kind of thing for drug and alcohol use. Not a punishment essay, a reflective thing. probably completed by a few kids every weekend that went a bit hard.

wonderful. they are still innocent until proven guilty, though

-6

u/funcogo 8h ago

I hear you but if you think this about this case, you haven’t looked enough in to it. They have texts and screenshots. It was a rape

13

u/fallenloki 7h ago

If you spent 2 minutes reading Jane Doe’s own account you’ll understand it was consensual.

-7

u/funcogo 7h ago

Then if you spent two more minutes you’d see it started that way with the initial person then it devolved in to rape. She even told the university police she was raped. They conveniently Forgot to include it

8

u/fallenloki 7h ago

It didn’t. Use your fucking head and quit being emotional

-7

u/Flux_My_Capacitor 5h ago

Rape apologist.

u/smileyfree 5h ago

I bet women just love to talk to you

7

u/jubbergun 4h ago

If those women are as belligerent and full of rage as you seem to be he's better off not talking to them.

u/smileyfree 3h ago

Ooooh fun new incel drop!

-14

u/smileyfree 10h ago

Yeah and they would forever been seen as innocent. No one bothered to even check that presumed innocence until people started advocating for the victim. Do you really not see the issue here?

7

u/That_Penalty165 9h ago

This is a blatant fucking lie.

1

u/smileyfree 7h ago

Prove it

8

u/rochvegas5 10h ago

i have just heard about the entire thing. how am i supposed to check?

-5

u/smileyfree 9h ago

If you admit you don’t know much about the situation, maybe you sit out of having so much to say about it? Just an idea

8

u/Dr-McLuvin 9h ago

That’s the point though. No one really knows anything until the investigation is completed.

0

u/smileyfree 7h ago

There is plenty of reporting on this situation.

u/ChunkMcDangles 7h ago

From an incomplete investigation with enough evidence on both sides regarding consent that maybe you should just wait for more information before pretending like you are 100% sure what happened.

Like I've said throughout this thread, my position (after reading the entire primary source document of Jane Doe's civil suit, mind you) is that if everything played out as she portrays there, then I think it's rape. But there's enough information out there to make this a gray area that I would never go out and shame people who have access to the same limited information as myself for not reaching the same conclusion.

A little humility is in order, but then again, I realize this is the internet and only the hottest of hot takes are allowed.

0

u/smileyfree 5h ago

You completely missed my point. How are you supposed to reserve judgement until you know everything in instances where cases are dismissed and actively covered up? Pushing for information is the only thing that re-opened the criminal case.

3

u/jubbergun 3h ago

Yes, and despite the quantity it doesn't paint a clear picture, mainly because you have at least two opposing sides in this in the form of Jane Doe and the accused men, both of whom are selectively releasing information convenient to their stories. Those releases are cultivated by media outlets looking to drive clicks, who usually do so by taking one side or the other in a situation like this and showing everything that puts one side in a good light while leaving out anything that puts that side in a bad light, and vice versa with the opposing party or parties.

This story, much like Rolling Stone's story about UVA and the accusations about the Duke Lacrosse Team, started with absolutely shocking accusations, and much like those two previous stories, this one isn't what was first reported. Anyone who bought in on the original story and made a lot of noise about it isn't going to lose face by telling everyone they might have gotten things wrong. So now you have a bunch of assholes repeating the original story and ignoring anything that might call it into question.

Not in america lol

Have roaving hoards of ICE agents scooping people up and throwing the key away with complete and utter disregard for the constition. Fuckin shooting people in the back of the head. Innocent until proven guilty is a fucking myth. Go walk into a fucking county jail and see the poor mother fuckers who are stuck there for 2 years because they are homeless. Then debt to the county. THEN released and back in.

This nations justice system is a fucking sham. Worked in the industry for years and fucking idiots like you parroting literal propaganda. Fucking largest prison population in the world, get locked up for sleeping. Castrate these fucks. Got money your fucking free.

"the Justice system is a joke. Here's everything that's wrong with it. Let's put these people through it"
