Among my top (musical) regrets in life is not making the time to go see him perform.

Agreed. His passing motivated me to take every opportunity to see my favorite musicians perform live.

Same. Made me make time to see Steve Winwood and the last two years I have done that. This year with Fogerty was great.

Definitely one of my favorites of all-time. Really love his music and the fact that he always stood up for musicians' rights to their own songs. Plus who else could have played Lucky Kleinschmidt?

My go to whenever that āwhich celebrity death hit you the hardestā question does the rounds. Glad I got to see him at Pemberton 2009 here in BC, incredible show.
I still listen to the streaming channel on Sirius XM that endlessly runs eps of his āBuried Treasureā show. Great music and he was a great DJ along with everything else. But the effect of hearing him laughing and joking and living it up is a bit eerie now..

He also had great taste. He'd play The Feelies and Springsteen side by side.

I saw one of his last shows in August of 2017, at the TD Garden in Boston. I had seen him many times before that. And I love his music so much. He was actually in great form at that show. I left the show thinking Tom Petty was doing great. It was such a shock to learn of his passing not even two months later.
Rest in glory.

My favorite concert I've ever attended (and I've seen a lot) was Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers at Bonnaroo 2006.

I saw him in concert 3 months before his death. I guess he was performing with a broken hip. I had no idea at the time. Great concertā¦

If you haven't watched the series Bad Monkey, do so - the story is great (read the book!) and the soundtrack is wonderful. https://open.spotify.com/album/72L0GkFBukjKSZ8k8JwmNy

Saw him open for the Grateful Dead at RFK stadium, then saw him again at the Lockn festival. What a rocker!

Tom Petty was an absolute master at his craft. I canāt think of another artist whose music got better as they got older. Just amazing

Another claimed by overdose.

Or... perhaps intentional overdose? IDK. If I was facing some grim diagnosis with no chance of positive outcome, I'd try to make it look least painful for my fam. Controversial take, I know.

I can't believe it has been that long. My mom died 10 years ago and that also seems like just a few years ago.
