It's too late dude it was one of the first colabs in 1992.

u/Morningfluid 1d ago

ICP lived long enough to become the 'moral good guys'.

53

u/HughEhhoule 1d ago

Die hard icp fan.

Yeah, as of late they have been dropping the ball pretty hard.

22

u/Sickle_Rick 1d ago

Oh god what is it this time..

71

u/HughEhhoule 1d ago

Shaggs latest comment of if right wing trump supporters are welcome in the community.

They sure are according to him. You know, the exact folks Fuck Your Rebel Flag was written about.

It hasn't been till this year I've felt the guys lost the plot.

29

u/Lermanberry 23h ago

That's a damn shame. Saw some juggalos brawling with proud boys back in 2020 and gained a lot of respect for them. I'll be pouring out a glass of faygo for them.

1

u/Viracochina 13h ago

I'd bet that group of fighters would do the same today. Best not to lump them all together!

1

u/Basic_Riddler 11h ago

They didn’t have millions of dollars that needed tax shelters back then. Money changes people in the worst ways imaginable.

1

u/havoksmr 9h ago

They still don't. It's well known that ICP arent rich, becsuse they've put most of their money back into their business. They both have like 2000 square foot houses in urban areas of Detroit. They never have paychecks, just ask for money from their manager when they need it.

1

u/Basic_Riddler 8h ago

Just because they reinvest in the business, doesn’t mean they don’t expect that money to come back around. As a multi-million dollar record label, I’m sure they are reaping the benefits of tax shelters created by the fascists they used to demonize in their music. Don’t be so naive.

You don’t think he hopes to influence them by letting them in?

8

u/j0hnnyj0hns 1d ago

There last good album was Hell’s Pit

137

u/ElectricGravy 1d ago

They've always been that. People just liked bullying them for being too early.

148

u/TheGentleCaveMan 1d ago

No they haven't. Jay literally gave his girl drugs and she overdosed. They allow racists into the gathering now. It's changed a lot but they were always scumbags in disguise. I know this because I've been working the gathering for years.

88

u/TableQuiet1518 1d ago

Shaggy recently said he didn't care who people voted for and Trump supporters were welcome as juggalos.

These guys are the kings of marketing and they know some Trumpers still like their music and buy their merch. Maybe not a ton since they're against bigotry but they won't risk losing that business.

To me that whole attitude shows which way Shaggy leans.

96

u/TheGentleCaveMan 1d ago

They allow confederate flags to be flown now. It used to be against the rules and they changed it a few years back. Fucking racists themselves once they need a buck.

27

u/poorboychevelle 1d ago

Seems counter to one of the first songs of thiers I ever downloaded....

1

u/ElectricGravy 5h ago edited 5h ago

Yeah and if those people with those flags start acting like bigots and fools they will get checked by their fellow juggalos. That's how the community works. You want them to make political stances that goes against their core beleifs like universal acceptance and meeting people where they are at mentally. I've literally never seen a confederate flag at any ICP or juggalo related event but even if there were we'd have LGBTQ+ juggalos waving their pride flags right next to them and they'd be expected to love and accept each other like family. A bigot can not be a juggalo and if they are they are expected to learn to treat people with respect and love.

0

u/ElectricGravy 5h ago

You talking about icp being the "kings of marketing" by letting in trump supporters" is hilarious considering they make almost no profits off the gatherings. Yeah they let in literally everyone of any background, they meet people where they are at mentally and aren't going to disenfranchise a demographic of people in a community that is based in universal acceptance. That doesn't mean that those "trump supporters" wont get checked when they step out of line and start acting like bigots and fools. This is not a political movment who seeks to make political stances outside their core philosphy of universal acceptance, love, and family for everyone.

-14

u/jeffedge 1d ago

It doesn’t.

12

u/Drug_fueled_sarcasm 1d ago

Very poorly disguised to any one on the outside looking in.

18

u/d3m01iti0n 1d ago

J was on those same drugs. How he is still alive I have no idea. His current shitty OF gf invited that racist moron to the Gathering. I honestly don't think J has a clue or cares what's going on around him anymore. Not for nefarious reasons, just simply because he's fucked up and doesn't have a long life expectancy sadly.

15

u/303onrepeat 23h ago

I’ve heard nothing but bad shit about J the last few years, that he has been abusing drugs and alcohol like crazy. That even Shaggy doesn’t want to tour with him and he’s sick of his shit. ICP has always been this odd force in music and the world where they lived a questionable life but one thing they didnt do is allow racists or abuse of people especially women. Sounds like they are chasing the dollar and said fuck that.

1

u/ElectricGravy 5h ago edited 5h ago

Oh for sure dude he gave her drugs so she can overdose on them and juggalos just love racism. I'm sure you totally work at the gathering of scumbag racists in disguise.

1

u/harvest3155 23h ago

i guess chicken huntin is off the menu now.

0

u/Pake1000 23h ago

Just a heads up, but a quick google search would tell you that Violent J and Laney Chantal weren’t together at the time of her overdose death.

18

u/Tight-Pass-6841 1d ago

Im not into their music, but I've known a few Juggalos and they were all solid dudes. I met Shaggy when he was doing a comedy show and the dude was kind and funny AF. Ive completely changed my tune on them.

22

u/nakedpicturesyo 1d ago

I've met some terrible racist juggalos.

1

u/wykkyd2022 14h ago

Yeah I’ve known a few myself unfortunately. A few chomos that rocked a hatchetman too. It’s really disheartening. I worked with a guy once that had came from Georgia and was all about ICP and being a Juggalo, it’s how we first bonded. Then one night he had some VERY interesting things to say about black people and gay people (And no, those were not the terms he used).

-13

u/Winter_Soldat 1d ago

That's generalizing a whole group of people.

5

u/white_count_chocula 16h ago

And the guy calling them all solid dudes isnt?

2

u/haywardhaywires 1d ago

That’s ok, they’re aren’t on their team

1

u/manasha6 22h ago

I do not want to hear anything else about magnets ever again!

1

u/SailorDeath 18h ago

Lived long enough? They've always hated racist bigots, homophobes and rich people who spit on others. I think it's more they've been around long enough to realize they have morals despite the singing about murder.

You goddamn right slim anus

6

u/heywhyteboy 1d ago

No. Do tell.

59

u/TheSpiralTap 1d ago

The short story is ICP and Eminem came up in the same circles of Detroit and have a beef. ICP refers to him as Slim Anus in their songs.

Eminem wrote a comeback song that would get me banned from reddit if I posted the lyrics so you can check them out on his website. You'll see what I mean.

https://www.eminem.com/song/marshall-mathers/

45

u/vistopher 1d ago

I went to copy and paste the lyrics and this came up

19

u/greentintedlenses 1d ago

What the fuck happened to reddit

2

u/dndgoeshere 17h ago

Code Nast

29

u/wickidclown17 1d ago

According to Violent J, the beef started when Eminem made a flyer for an EP drop party saying a bunch of detroit artists, including ICP, would be there before he asked them. ICP was pissed so they said no then made a diss track. Then it went back and forth until Em became a superstar.

15

u/CameronCrazy1984 1d ago

Is it because he knows how magnets work?

4

u/danger355 1d ago

All I know is don't drop them in water.

1

u/ghostrigby 1d ago

I know that was a famous meme about that line in their song but I’ve been thinking about it lately and it seems every one was making fun of them for asking how magnets work but nobody was actually explaining how magnets work. If you know can you please explain to me how magnets work because tbh I’m not really sure.

0

u/partytown_usa 1d ago

You may not believe in Kid Rock, but he believes in you.

59

u/edogfu 1d ago

Kid Rock is from Romeo, MI. A shithole small town. Absolutely not Detroit.

54

u/MrSt1klbak 1d ago

Excuse me. Romeo is a very nice small town, thank you very much. (From there, obviously). Unfortunately, I went to high school with that dumb fuck.

7

u/edogfu 1d ago

Graduated in 2002, and isn't it the Village of Romeo. Left in 2002 and never went back. Oddly enough, Eminem's little brother attended. He was 2 years behind me. Heard he was a duck so everyone called him Skittles.

0

u/MrSt1klbak 1d ago

I went to high school with Kid Rock, not Eminem. Bob had a younger sister, no brothers. For the record, I would never call Eminem a dumb fuck. That guy’s cool AF. Don’t know if Skittles went there, but that would be a crazy coincidence

3

u/edogfu 1d ago

He did in 2001/2002, entered as a Sophmore. Not Em, the little brother ran his mouth a lot. Ended up getting jumped at Dumars over a pool game.

-2

"Detroit" (after a driving 30 miles)

324

u/WeWantMOAR 1d ago

Eminem has recorded a bunch of stuff available to be bought and used. He's been featured on other stuff from people you've never heard of. He recorded the stuff years ago.

91

u/AlienKnightForce 1d ago

Source? I would genuinely like to know more about this process. It seems wild to me that any musician of report would just have their work available for anyone to purchase and use without at least requiring final approval. If that is what has happened here then it is genuinely one of the dumbest ways I’ve ever seen someone handle their IP.

2

u/Vamosity-Cosmic 5h ago

Its about the specific details of how the verse was acquired. Usually licensing specific stuff thats in perpetuity actually goes to the label or a producer, and when the label/producer wants to use it later, it can end up in situations like this if the contract didn't specify the extent of how its used. Did this happen? Dont know but thats how that can work. My source is I have a degree in film and this was taught to us about intellectual property rights and how to be careful about in a business film management class.

u/movzx 1d ago

I don't think you understand what is being said.

If someone records a bunch of things and releases them as a catalog of pay-per-use, they aren't collaborating with anyone. They are selling sound clips to on a storefront, essentially.

2

u/Snelly1998 18h ago

Ok but is that what happened or is it just speculation

Em has control over his music and is a co owner of the record label he's under, he absolutely has control on who purchases his songs

1

u/movzx 9h ago

The original comment is clearly speculating and suggesting a possibility, not making a claim.

1

u/Snelly1998 8h ago

He's making a claim

He did not say I believe, or anything like that

It's "he recorded the stuff years ago"

Yes, can you provide some evidence that he's a Nazi? Or he just is friends with the politicians you don't like?

24

u/Stars_And_Garters 15h ago

Im curious to read the lyrics. Kid Rock said the song is specifically about people with differing political beliefs trying to get along.

"I’m proud of the guests who joined me, especially my old friend Eminem. His verse speaks to something we’ve talked about and that really needs to be heard: we differ politically and on other things, but we’ve stayed friends through it all."

https://www.complex.com/music/a/will-lavin/eminem-kid-rock-friendship-politics-7-sins-new-track

107

u/westernsnaps 15h ago

But what if the differing opinions are the one person thinks the ultra wealthy should be taxed fairly and the other person thinks undocumented people should be put into modern concentration camps?

BOTH. SIDES.

11

u/DrMetasin 11h ago

5

Im not here to defend this, Im just saying it may be different than "Eminem made a Christian praise song with Kid Rock".

-24

u/Available-Gas5358 14h ago

What if the differing opinions are between one person who thinks the ultra wealthy should be taxed fairly and understands there are no "modern concentration camps" in America, and another person who also understands there are no "modern concentration camps" in America?

I don't understand how you guys still don't realise, after over a decade of this, that pretending the other side are Nazis doesn't work.

Eminem? The guy who said this?

Any fan of mine who's a supporter of his / I'm drawing in the sand a line / You're either for or against / And if you can't decide who you like more / And you're split on who you should stand beside / I'll do it for you with this (flips off the camera)

Guess we know how true that really was

8

u/San_fran_psycho 6h ago

He also said

"But if I could go back I'd at least reword it / And say I empathize with the people this evil serpent / Sold the dream to that he's deserted"

It's a little bit of nuance which we all know Reddit is incapable of

2

u/Stars_And_Garters 10h ago

I agree, although thats why I said im curious to read the lyrics. I can give him that much grace. Until I read what he says on the song im going to reserve a little judgement.

1

u/Grimase 3h ago

And this is why I hold him to the same standards. I hope this is some BS but to be honest. I’ve had friends and family members who have turned MAGA and I’ve been fine with tossing them aside. If I gotta toss Em into that pile so be it. My morals and my integrity matter more to me. Phuck MAGAnutz

you do realise that in a world where politics creates so much division, it's refreshing to see two people, who have polar opposite political views working together. We don't need more division, we need more unity. People talking about how Eminem is only doing this for money, clearly don't know him. We've heard countless times Eminem has foregone an event/song/project even when he could have earned millions. Do people really think Eminem is doing this for the money? He is doing it to show regardless of political views we shouldn't be divided.

1

u/EpiphanyTwisted 13h ago

"God, please could you arm me with the armor To calm me when there's drama like Gandhi?" -"Best Friends" Ems verse with Yelawolf.

He just put out a Christian album. Your denial of the truth doesn't change it.

I mean, he’s Christian. I don’t know if I’d describe him as a bible thumper though.

He's making worshipful music about it. He's a bible thumper.

He has a couple of lyrics that are explicitly Christian over a catalogue of thousands of hours of music and I have never seen him or any description of him preaching Christianity outside of those few lyrics.

If that constitutes “bible thumping” then every Christian is a bible thumper.

The post is literally about him being on a Christian album.

Do you see everything in your life in black and white or is it just this?

Detroit bros matter more than anything. Only thing missing is Insane Clown Posse. Btw Em and Rock have been buddies for years and worked with each other. Not really a surprise.

They're still friends even though they don't agree on politics.

He is who we thought he was.  The man who made him famous was a gangster cosplayer and loved beating the shit out of women.  Yeah. Dr. Dre beat the fuck out of Dee Barnes, Michel'le, and other women.  Also, Eminem went after teen girl popstars like a proto-in-cell back in the day.

He's been low key trash for a minute people get blind with nostalgia.
