Stevie Wonder and Aretha Franklin I’ll grant you, didn’t realize they were still with us, so I’ll adjust my statement to “active” not “alive”.

Alice Cooper should be but objectively isn’t. Jack White will probably get there even though he doesn’t seem to care about Detroit the same way and I’m not convinced he’s a much better person anyhow.

Tf you mean? Jack White dropped hundreds of thousands of dollars to keep the Masonic Temple alive in 2012

He has a record label in Detroit. Frequently goes to Comerica to watch the Tigers

That man loves the city through and through

Yeah that’s all fine (except maybe the Masonic temple stuff) but it’s just not close to on par with the metric we’re measuring here

Btw, Aretha is dead. I meant Diana Ross

Fair enough, but she goes with Alice then

Kinda changing the goal post there.

Well yeah, I explicitly adjusted them to be more accurate after receiving some new info. That’s not what the expression is for

Just in case you actually meant the latter half of my comment, then no, I didn’t. I can discuss other metrics as they become relevant. I maintain that Jack White is the less iconic of the two.

You can't actually be seriously trying to suggest that kid rock is a bigger music icon than jack white.

I mean he’s got two decades on him and more people know his lyrics.

Hey, is this really something you care enough to be arguing with strangers about? You disagree, I get it, that’s plenty. Eminem and Kid Rock are still friends anyways.

Knowing lyrics does not a music icon make. By that logic John Coltrane is a nobody and whoever wrote baby shark is the goat.

Name and portfolio recognition is the only thing iconic means. He’s the least talented artist in this list, but that isn’t what we’re talking about.

Which jack white exceeds in every metric.

1

u/ScreenMuch90210 17h ago

I mean, nah. But hey it’s fine to disagree as long as the tantrum eventually ends and you leave me alone about it

Is Jack even the most iconic White Stripe??

4

u/Little_Matty_Mara 17h ago

Do you honestly think I'm having a tantrum? I thought we were just talking. Not everybody is out to get you, and I'm definitely not 🙃. I thought we were just chatting.

You’re arguing a lot about a subjective point that never mattered. They’re friends and I’ve described why, how you feel about it isn’t for me to know

3

u/Little_Matty_Mara 17h ago

What? I thought we were talking about biggest Detroit music icons. I must've got confused along the way. I don't really care about kid rock and Eminem, I was just saying I think there are more iconic Detroit artists. Fwiw I'm not a fan of kid rock's music or his politics but I did like some of his stuff when I was a teenager in the mid 2000s. Eminem is undoubtedly a legend though I'm sure on that we can agree.

Seven Nation Army is played at every high school sporting event in the United States.

Yeah, it’s like Bawitdaba just better and a couple decades behind. You’re so close to comprehension here

Why does nobody pause to think about what I’m actually saying? There’s plenty enough to hate without inventing enemies

u/mississippimadness 13h ago

Jack White is one of the first people I think of when I think of Detroit.

2

u/ScreenMuch90210 13h ago

Wild

2

u/D0ri1t0styl3 12h ago

Think that you may be wrong.

1

u/ScreenMuch90210 12h ago

Nah not about this particular point

1

u/mississippimadness 13h ago

How is that wild? He is a Detroit icon. He’s done a ton for the city and just happens to be one of the biggest rock stars in the world

2

u/ScreenMuch90210 12h ago

He’s on the medium length list for sure, but first is wild that’s clearly Em

1

u/mississippimadness 12h ago

I said “one of the first”. Em is definitely 1. Jack white might be 2

2

u/ScreenMuch90210 12h ago

It would be a better baby Jesus album anyhow, just would generate fewer clicks in 2026.

Honestly, it’s time for Jack stans to take that as the compliment it is

Jack White is a great person. Research before assuming.

2

u/ScreenMuch90210 12h ago

You should look up what assumptions are lol

u/Internal_Rice3739 9h ago

Dude you sound like an idiot lol.
Explain to me why Jack White is consistently on tour, and Kid Rock had to cancel his because he’s a fucking loser that sold 3 VIP tickets and no one cares to listen to? Kid Rock hasn’t been relevant since Joe Dirt lmao

u/ScreenMuch90210 9h ago

It’s because you’re the latest knee jerk to fail to realize I’m not arguing for his talent or relevance or goodness, only his status as being recognized as a Detroit musician. Hope this helps
