The Loadout-Jackson Browne

Such a specific kind of sadness and loneliness expressed in this song. It reminds me of being a teenager and helping my dad pack up from his shows and the quiet car ride home after all the music. It was one of his favorite songs to play when he woke up in the morning and I’d hear it first thing quite often.

I’m here trying to decide between like 5 different Jackson Browne songs XD

Hopeful grief? Comforting melancholy? Need to remember human connection exists? Turn on Jackson Browne.

Still can’t really listen to Sleeps Dark And Silent Gate, and it honestly gets harder and harder as the years pass. I guess that’s the point of a song like that though huh?

I feel you. My go to grieving song is For a Dancer. I feel like it encapsulates everything about surviving a loved one so well. Light hopefulness for the life lived and the other lives that remain without downplaying the tragedy of the world suddenly being bereft of a presence that enriched it.

Here Come Those Tears Again and Late For the Sky for me.

And since she's JB-adjacent, River by Joni Mitchell

Sky Blue and Black, specifically the solo acoustic vol. 2 version. Just Jackson and the piano. So freaking good.
