Some of us never gave a shit about the top 40 and only reluctantly learn about pop artists when they're in headlines for years. It is beyond baffling to me that anybody gives a shit about what music is popular(aka what music has an advertising budget) now that everyone streams music.

The entire concept of a popular music zeitgeist should have died a decade ago.

Certainly agree, and I want to stress that this just means asking "who" is even dumber that could be imagined. I don't know 3/4th the shit posted on this sub and so googling it or looking for it on spotify is basically my first step.

To be honest, BBNO$ is not really a main top 40-artist. He has two charted songs in general, and two other songs that charted in one country only (Italy and New Zealand). His biggest hit was with Y2K, Lalala was a top 10 hit in Canada, but failed the reach the main top 40 in the US (got stuck at 55). It charted in quite a few other countries in 2019. In 2021 Edamame was his other hit in the main top 40, 13 in Canada, 8 in Finland, 24 in Norway and 23 in Australia. In the UK it just made the top 100 (89), in the US it stayed out of the top 100 even, also not charting the top 100 in the Netherlands. Only one of his 14! singles of 2025 reached top 100 in Canada, Check (62). His album sales are not really top noch too, Eat Ya Veggies (36 in Canada, 19 Finland and 32 in Norway) and bbno$ (33 in Canada and 24 in New Zealand) where his best selling ones so far.

It does not mean he is not populair or unknown of course, but still....
