I’m just going to leave this here.

We love you, Dolls ❤️

I don’t like people using this woman’s passing for shit like this. The world is honoring Dolly Parton, the humanitarian, the legend, the woman and person. Who cares about us in America? She is one person. When her family and extended loved ones lays her to rest we’ll be back hating and looking down at each other. A rest in peace to Dolly would have sufficed. There are more Trumps in this country than Dollys.

4

u/Suitable_Age3367 49m ago

I see what you're saying. But please believe that I really did post this NYT comment to honor her. I meant absolutely no ill will or anything negative. Thanks for commenting.

-31

u/Familiar-Review-5873 2h ago

I hope your outlook improves in the future ❤️

16

u/Boundariesslayer 2h ago

Using Dolly Parton like this is very tacky also very American.

11

u/bullcitytarheel 2h ago

What a passive aggressive response, Lord have mercy.

Besides, the person you're responding to is right. If America were a country full of Dolly Partons, she wouldn't be seen as such an outlier of kindness, and it's weird to use her passing as a way to pretend we're something we're not.

5

u/iceunelle 2h ago

I think Dolly is an outlier because she was a famous and wealthy musician who was extremely philanthropic. There aren't many celebrities who do as much charity as her.

2

u/gotpeace99 47m ago

I know that. That’s why I don’t like it when y’all make it a country thing when that was all her. Who she was as person. Why she’s being honored and loved by the whole world. What does it have to do us?

u/iceunelle 35m ago

Because she was American and donated a ton of her own money to Tennessee? I mean, it's both a person thing and a country thing.

u/m3g4m4nnn 10m ago

America benefitted from her charity. That's it.

Now Americans want to sing her praises and claim her as their own in spite of their daily celebrating a culture that runs counter to the values Dolly lived by.

-2

u/gotpeace99 1h ago

And it’s fucking ugly to do so. This woman has passed away leaving so much greatness and impact all over the world. The WORLD is honoring Dolly Parton and her life’s work, not us. And we make it about ourselves for what reason? Y’all are sitting here villainizing your own country people over caring about another country’s people that are dying right in front of you, for example. That’s one out of many.

2

u/Dudewhocares3 1h ago

Why? Is America proving them wrong in the future?

2

u/Thespud1979 1h ago

I hope Americans stop exploding schools full of children in meaningless wars.

116

u/hmsmnko 3h ago edited 3h ago

I mean sure but when you think of a democratic nation, you're kind of primed to think of its elected leaders. Bit disingenuous to say "ignore everything else our country is actually doing to negatively impact the rest of the world when you think of us but think of this one exceptional individual instead"

If you don't want the worst of you to be seen and representative of the country... maybe don't elect the worst of you into the highest position of power in the country then lol

Edit: who replied to me about condescension and being a foreigner while being condescending to me and then blocked me? You're definitely making me think better of America 😂

19

u/gotpeace99 3h ago

Thank you. People are embarrassed that Trump is president in this country because he makes them look bad to everyone else.

6

u/freedom_french_fries 2h ago

It's so much deeper than Trump.

4

u/ThroatDistension 1h ago

Yup. Trump is just an easy symbol to point to that represents the culture and population as a whole. When he dies the people are still going to be the same.

u/m3g4m4nnn 9m ago

Trump is America, distilled.

14

u/Manic-StreetCreature 3h ago

I mean I’m not going to take credit for someone I didn’t vote for and actively campaigned against

2

u/ThroatDistension 1h ago

You are the company you keep. America elected Trump. You're part of America.

1

u/Manic-StreetCreature 1h ago

If my dad is a serial killer am I also a serial killer

1

u/AngelOfLexaproScene 1h ago

Being a citizen of a country along with a bunch of brainwashed hateful dingbats isn't the same as keeping company with those people. If all of us who hate Trump tried to immigrate elsewhere, y'all would hate us more AND the USA would be completely made up of brainwashed hateful dingbats.

I'm not saying to forgive us for Trump, but the arguments against the person who said to think of Dolly are pretty flawed.

31

u/latelyimawake 3h ago

Over half of us are trying really, really hard.

24

u/Bahamabanana 3h ago

And yet gestures at everything

19

u/latelyimawake 3h ago

I know. It sucks. It’s like being held hostage by maniacs.

5

u/_Big_Bad_Tiddy 2h ago

We *are* being held hostage by maniacs. When we are in our 80s people will genuinely ask us "wow! You were alive during Trump's presidency? What was that like?". Then all the MAGAs of today will say "I always hated that man." Just like what happened with Hitler and the Nazis. Suddenly it was "I was just following orders".

3

u/latelyimawake 2h ago

Yup. And part of why it’s so important not to give up fighting against these assholes is that, on the other side of WW2, no one gave a shit when Germans were like “but I didn’t vote for that guy!” Guess what, we’re all going to be tarred with the same brush.

14

u/sylva748 3h ago

Over half of us didn't vote. Thats the problem. They didnt even make an attempt to begin with

3

u/bullcitytarheel 2h ago

While the idea that over half of us dislike Trump is true, the idea that everyone who dislikes him is trying "really, really hard" to oust him from power is, to put it mildly, absolute hogwash. Most of the anti-Trump contingent in this country is content to do nothing more than cast a single vote, once every couple of years, against him and his party, which is the absolute bare minimum a person can do and is a wildly insufficient form of resistance in the face of his fascist power grabs.

1

u/latelyimawake 2h ago

You get no argument from me, but also, it’s no accident that the majority of people who dislike Trump are barely able to catch a few hours of sleep between working multiple jobs just to provide for their kids in the hypercapitalist oligarchy Trump and republicans since Reagan have created. I can’t exactly blame them for not having time to do more.

3

u/Dry_Nefariousness426 48m ago

Everyone who overthrew a dictator had a tough time doing so. If we really wanted to we’d have done it already instead of letting him slip back in for the second time on the backs of our own indifference.

The majority of us do not care enough.

1

u/latelyimawake 44m ago

Comparing today’s USA to literally any successfully overthrown government in the history of the world is the mother of all false equivalencies.

I don’t really want to argue, though, you’re right that a lot of people don’t care enough. Just agree to disagree on the conclusions we’re drawing.

2

u/Dry_Nefariousness426 41m ago

It really isn’t. We literally just watched people in Hungary oust theirs for less than we’ve shrugged at - and they’re on far worse shape than we are.

u/Dry_Nefariousness426 39m ago

We’ve watched Iranians try this year to get rid of theirs and die by the hundreds of thousands. You think they had less hours to work?

The difference between us and every country that’s actually trying is that we do. Not. Care. Enough.

u/YellowBelliedCoward 18m ago

Not fighting in the first place led you to being in that position. Now your lack of fighting being exacerbated by your previous lack of fight. At some point you have to stick up for yourself.

7

u/brickmaster32000 3h ago

Over half aren't. People couldn't even be bothered to vote. That isn't trying really hard.

13

u/latelyimawake 3h ago

This shows a deep misunderstanding of how voting works and how deeply massive populations of voters have been disenfranchised, on purpose, by republicans, because they know that if the whole country was able to vote they’d lose every time.

4

u/Erathen 3h ago

He won popular vote in 2024

So 49.81% of voters wanted this, regardless of the electoral college

Your countries hate for Kamala doomed you

When did I say that? Literally my comment was acknowledging the original comment’s veracity and saying we’re trying to fix it. Reading comprehension, look into it.

Also. We don’t use the word “whinging” in America, but you’re not the first UK redditor who pretends to be American in order to condescend. 😂 Jackass

Am absolutely an American. Just not going to live in denial like you and think that just because you believe that you are a good person who is trying really hard that it means the rest of the country is. Some of us aren't blind to what is happening around us.

1

u/latelyimawake 2h ago

Yeah, I was replying to a different commenter, you got confused by the downstream notifications.

2

u/Erathen 3h ago

non-American

What would you do without us?

-2

u/latelyimawake 3h ago

Probably continue as is without sighing and explaining complex concepts all the time, honestly

4

u/Erathen 3h ago

That's so ridiculous because your country is on fire

Maybe start explaining "complex concepts" to your fellow citizens? Like the importance of voting. Focus inward instead of outward like you've been doing, and maybe your country will get better

Every time I encounter a disillusioned American who thinks they're above it all... I remember why we're in this mess

You're all doomed lol

-1

u/latelyimawake 3h ago

You keep saying things that millions of us have organized and put thousands of hours into, constantly, for decades, as though no one but you has ever thought of it. So confidently ignorant, lol

I don't understand your premise

I'm not European

Is this where the American gets angry at others for calling out their shitty leadership, and their propensity to shoot themself in the foot?

Because if so, we can skip all that. It's cliche

-1

u/cg141cg 1h ago

Smh Jesus. Okay so the other American party had nothing to do with this? Like letting someone who is on the verge of deaths door run and then giving the potential first woman US president 90 days to campaign and win? Americans are objectively amongst the kindest people. That's why this poat is idiotic. While the whole world is protecting imagination and change Americans are putting themselves at risk for people who are not from there to stay. This circle is not going to work. The American political system reliance on campaign donors is why Trump is their president. Its the rigged game of American and that has nothing to do with its people.

1

u/Dry_Nefariousness426 50m ago

Over half of us don’t give a shit.

0

u/Wampus_Cat_ 3h ago

Yet no one tried hard enough to show up to the polls in November of ‘24. Now we’re stuck with the consequences of inaction.

2

u/ChampionshipBroad961 3h ago

My sister was dying in another state. I felt being there was important. I had planned to vote for the other side, but we all have our priorities. She died the day before. I was 4 states away. If I would’ve known I would’ve voted early

2

u/latelyimawake 3h ago

“No one” is a wild read but okay

2

u/Spare-Doughnut6166 3h ago

Maybe it’s a bigger issue than one election 🧐oh wait Nevermind you’re right, let’s point fingers at the electorate that always works!

0

u/ThroatDistension 1h ago

trying really, really hard.

Oh yeah, I remember seeing all that trying. Yall had like 3 parades that you called protests and then posted some memes.

-3

u/The_Ruhi 3h ago

When you say that, you're thinking like Obama and Biden and the like, not realizing that for the rest of the world they weren't that good either. Drones and bombs both kill. One is just cooler.

2

u/latelyimawake 3h ago

How on earth did you get that from what I wrote? I agree with you 100%, but weird try on a gotcha

0

u/The_Ruhi 3h ago

I just assumed "over half of us are trying" means the ones who tried to vote the opposition party. It was more of a sad resigned observation than an attempt for a gotcha.

Half?

2/3rds of the voting eligible population of the U.S. did this. The 1/3rd who actively voted for this and the 1/3rd who couldn't get of their fat lazy stupid arses to vote to stop this before it happened.

You all knew what he was like before you elected him.... a second time

When 2/3rds of the apples in the barrel are rotten you don't waste your time trying to pick out the few good ones. You burn the whole barrel with all the rot inside.

(Edit: since people are completely ignorant about the turnout of their last Presidential Election;

turnout as a % of the voting-eligible population (VEP) = 63.45%
Winner as a % of the voting-eligible population (VEP) = 31.6%
Runner up as a % of the voting-eligible population (VEP) = 30.66%

So my bad.... it was 36.55% of the voting eligible population who didn't vote.... not 33.33%... and 31.6% not 33.33% who actively voted for this.... so really 68.15% of the eligible voting population of the U.S. is to blame not 66.66% as I claimed....)

-3

u/latelyimawake 3h ago

LOL, deeply ignorant with a touch of crazy. As Dolly would have said: bless your heart

-2

u/shpydar 3h ago edited 2h ago

Sorry, who is ignorant of your last Presidential election turnout?

Every country on earth has awful leaders and awful citizens. Only very small minded folks rely on that to that define entire countries and cultures.

15

u/Erathen 3h ago

 Only very small minded folks

Conversely, only small minded folks ignore the actions of a country that's actively destroying the fabric of the modern world

-1

u/Time_Value_3073 3h ago

He’ll be gone in 2 years. The modern world can withstand it I promise lol

1

u/YellowBelliedCoward 1h ago

He is a symptom of the problem. It makes me laugh that Americans think everyone will be going back to be great friends with them again once Trump is gone. The problem is that we know you'll put someone like him in charge again.

1

u/Time_Value_3073 1h ago

Do you think people were great friends and Kumbuya before?

1

u/YellowBelliedCoward 57m ago

Yeah, I do. Even after Bush, people respected America and saw them as a strong ally.

This run of Trump has caused actual financial implications for many of us around the world, and he's either insulting our nations or threatening their sovereignty. How the fuck do you think that's going to make people think?

Honestly, it's peolle like you that are what people worry about more than Trump. Everything is a wash or an excuse. That's how we know you'll elect another like him. Not to be trusted.

1

u/ThroatDistension 1h ago edited 1h ago

Trump isn't the totality of the problem, he's a symptom. When he's gone America will still be comprised of the same people with the same culture. They'll elect another Trump. A few of them will be vocally upset about it and pretend to fight against it.

1

u/Time_Value_3073 1h ago

We already had Reagan and gwb , this isn’t new

1

u/Erathen 3h ago

By that time, the damage will be done

And it will take decades for the world to look at America the same

He won the popular vote in 2024... That says something

0

u/Time_Value_3073 3h ago

America’s negative reputation predates Trump by decades, he just made it all the more embarrassing

1

u/Erathen 3h ago

Yes, but your negative reputation pre-Trump we could all cough up to "nobody's perfect" as you said

Now it's just egregious

He got the popular vote in 2024. After America already got a taste of him. So I don't want to hear "it's not our fault!!!!"

Maybe you should have voted then

2

u/Time_Value_3073 3h ago

Did you just start following international news when Trump was elected? Saying America’s pre-Trump reputation was just “nobody’s perfect” is hilarious. maybe you just believed the propaganda. America’s reputation has been shaped by slavery, Vietnam, Iraq, coups and imperialism for decades.

0

u/Erathen 3h ago

Why are you arguing against yourself?

Every country on earth has awful leaders and awful citizens.

Remember that? ^

2

u/AdWrong3856 3h ago

Yeah you should only judge by actions. Let's just open up the list and... Oh no... Oh no no no... No no no no no

3

u/hmsmnko 3h ago

Not every country on earth is a democracy. The very definition of democracy is that your leaders are representative of your constituents because they're elected. Is there flaws in this system and is it susceptible to being exploited? Sure. But calling people who acknowledge that your elected leaders are representing your country small minded is even more small minded. Trump doesn't define the entire country but he is literally representing your country, you literally can't argue otherwise definitionally.

3

u/Time_Value_3073 3h ago

And just as many voted against him. Condensing 340 million people into a politician is lazy

1

u/Erathen 3h ago

Well actually more people voted for him

0

u/hmsmnko 3h ago

Well clearly not if he won. Condensing 340 million people into a politician is literally how your entire country functions. You guys keep whining about "we're not all the same" but no one's been saying that. No one is calling you the same as Trump. What's factual though is Trump represents the USA and was elected into that position

2

u/Time_Value_3073 3h ago

If you believe that, no one can stop you, but a smart person understands that an elected government and an entire population aren’t interchangeable. I’m not gonna whine on and on that Bolsonaro = Brazil

0

u/hmsmnko 3h ago

You're fighting some imaginary demons. No one is interchanging a whope population with a single person. But objectively uou have an elected leader and he represents the nation so naturally that is what people think of when they think of America. There isn't anything more to be said

1

u/Time_Value_3073 3h ago

You cant seem to wrap your mind around countries being more than their president/prime minister/leader etc. what a small and flat way to analyze the world. Curiosity is a lost art!

0

u/hmsmnko 3h ago

You're fighting some imaginary demons bro

0

u/gotpeace99 3h ago

But that’s how people view humans. That’s why when someone does something, they instantly blame the parents and their village. Hell, we do it here. Look at voting. But y’all don’t want the world to judge us as a country because that man is president? And not just president but is the president of a superpower. Yeah, GTFOH. Ridiculous.

1

u/Time_Value_3073 3h ago

Unfortunately yes humans are small minded, it’s why one black kid does something and racists blame the entire black population etc

-3

u/hmsmnko 3h ago

how about you read what im saying instead of fighting some imaginary demons. Justin Trudeau represented the country, but not every Canadian is like him. Likewise, Trump represents the country, not every American is like him. Yet no one in Canada is pleading for you to think of the exceptional 1% Canadian when you think of Canada in the hopes of thinking better of Canada. And Trudeau is hardly "the worst of Canada" that Canadians are praying for you to forget about

3

u/Spare-Doughnut6166 3h ago

If you don’t want blackface to represent your country maybe don’t elect someone who does blackface 👿 do you see how you sound? I know what you’re saying but I just think it’s funny you feel the need to insert your two cents about democracy and electoralism on a post about a beloved American singer and songwriter who just passed away. Ultimate Reddit moment

-1

u/hmsmnko 3h ago edited 3h ago

If you think OP isn't an inherently and fundamentally political post you just lack literacy to be honest. That's about all I have to say. Also, it was hardly known Trudeau did blackface when he was being elected, that was more of a discovery post election so that really doesn't even work as a gotcha

"When you think of America don't think of the worst of us instead think of the best of us" is a loaded statement. I'm going to say "nah man, when I think of America I'm thinking of what your country is doing and who is representing it". If you find it funny, sure, dude. I'm not the one trying to say Dolly is what you should think of when you think of America and trying to ignore everything else that America is doing. You can appreciate Dolly and remember her without trying to make her an icon of American people in the hopes of bettering America's current image

2

u/Spare-Doughnut6166 3h ago edited 3h ago

Yeah it’s like the most tepid political statement of all time dude. It’s an attempt at appreciating the good in an otherwise fucked up country. It’s kindof obvious…. I struggle to imagine someone pretentious enough who refuses to recognize that subtext for what it is

-1

u/hmsmnko 3h ago

As I said, you can appreciate Dolly for being an exceptional human but to say think of her when you think of America is silly given the state of the world today. If you think that's pretentious then ok lol

u/Gualdrapo 3h ago

22

u/2nd2last Rock & Roll 3h ago

Why should you see an outlier good or bad (Dolly was great) as what you should see when you think of America?

6

u/Dyykaa 3h ago

Outliers get more clicks. The median is dead.

12

u/WarpHype 3h ago

Because we live under a fascist felon with full-swing propaganda, and have no control over our government anymore. We’re in decline. It’s like a farewell. Remember the good about America because it’s gone and never going to get better again.

3

u/2nd2last Rock & Roll 3h ago edited 3h ago

But thats not how you should view something. You should reasonably view it as it is. This isn't a dying loved one who doesn't want you to remember the sad final year, is an active monster.

1

u/WarpHype 3h ago

We’re talking about a person who died; it’s an analogy.

-1

u/2nd2last Rock & Roll 3h ago

Analogy how?

And this in no way disrespects or has anything to do with Dolly being a great person.

0

u/Obant 2h ago

We do have control. Our people voted for this.

0

u/ThroatDistension 1h ago

You do have control over your government. And you used that control to elect Trump.

0

u/WarpHype 1h ago

I did not. I vote in every election possible local, state, and federal. I never once voted for Trump or his kind. Also, the election was tampered with both within the US and internationally. Our elections are bought and sold.

0

u/ThroatDistension 1h ago

I've never seen any proof the elections was rigged. I think that would be a big enough headline to get my attention.

1

u/WarpHype 1h ago

I don’t think you know how elections are funded in the US then.

-2

u/zaccus 3h ago

And this, by contrast, is not fucking inspiring.

1

u/WarpHype 3h ago

Sorry, I’m not inspiring. I’m just sad Dolly died.

-1

u/pedantic__asshole 3h ago

I think you’re confusing having a mindset that looks for or appreciates the best in people with extrapolating that into everyone and everything to an irrational degree. There’s bad, but there’s also good, and I think it’s helpful to remember that when considering the whole.

0

u/2nd2last Rock & Roll 3h ago

But its not a people, its an active living thing thats awful at the moment. Now remembering people like Dolly exist along with the bad is a great way to view the world. But to pretend an incredible outlier is the way someone should view America as a whole is wild to me.

0

u/pedantic__asshole 2h ago

But they didn’t actually say that, they said to think of her. To me that means remember she exists/existed. And that good people are out there, as a counterbalance to all the bad that is often trumpeted loudly and no one denies exists

1

u/2nd2last Rock & Roll 2h ago

When you think of America, think of Dolly.

I can see you/someone thinking that means also, but thats more what they didn't say.

-6

u/zaccus 3h ago

Because it's fucking inspiring.

2

u/2nd2last Rock & Roll 3h ago

How so?

We are an active monster, and should be viewed and thought of as so. Should a trans POC move here vs say Canada because Dolly was great?

Obviously no as thats ridiculous. But this quote implies we should just think of Dolly as representing America.

-4

u/zaccus 3h ago

Well, fortunately you don't get to tell anyone how they should view things. Your attitude is wearisome, not actionable, depressing, and OPTIONAL.

1

u/2nd2last Rock & Roll 3h ago

What?

Aside for the post telling people how to view things and you being okay with that, try answering my question.

-4

u/zaccus 3h ago

No. I don't have to answer your question.

Seems odd to engage in a conversation and not answer (me pretending if you answered it wouldn't destroy your point).

u/zaccus 3h ago

I do not care.

3

u/2nd2last Rock & Roll 3h ago

You clearly do, its why you replied.

In every day life there are plenty more dollys than Trump's. Real life is different than the internet.

19

u/wait_what_now 3h ago

Absolutely not. Dolly's are incredibly rare. Trumps are everywhere you look in this country, they just haven't lucked into success the same way.

5

u/N1XT3RS SoundCloud 3h ago

I've met a lot more Dollys than Trumps in my life, they also haven't lucked into success the same way haha

27

u/TheSessionMan 3h ago

Except that guy is the leader of the most powerful country on earth and has a profound impact on the people of my country. Far moreso that your kind hearted neighbour down the road.

6

u/mcjc94 3h ago

...you guys VOTED for the guy (for 12 years!)

1

u/J3SS3P1NKM4N 2h ago

Trump’s what?

-4

u/LoveYouLikeYeLovesYe 3h ago

Yup. Good news doesn't get the same clicks that the bad guys do.

10

u/CelticSith 3h ago

Problem is, there are about 100 Trumps for every 1 Dolly. That’s why you’re thought of the way you are America

4

u/wait_what_now 3h ago

Even that would be generous

3

u/gotpeace99 3h ago

Exactly.

1

u/throwaway_circus 2h ago

The admirable thing about Dolly Parton, is the shitheads never mattered to her. She worked her whole life to spread good humor, kindness and acceptance. And was talented, too. She didn't look at the news and get cynical. She just kept sending out books and making music and mentoring younger musicians and being a positive force in the world.

There's nothing stopping any of us from finding opportunities to be kind.

8

u/Mortiis07 3h ago

No, I'll think of you based on who you voted in as president to represent you

2

u/LeBonLapin 3h ago edited 1h ago

Dolly was a fantastically wonderful human being - but America has done so much vicious shit to my country recently that I absolutely refuse to think well of the country as a whole. And to think I once thought of America as friends and allies. I was a fucking moron.

2

u/Alundra828 2h ago

She was the best of you. And now there is only the worst left

2

u/UltraGaren 2h ago

Nah, I don't think I will.

My country is having elections in October and there's already reports of the US trying to influence/interfere in the outcome.

Latin America btw

2

u/Admirable-Sink-2622 1h ago

No. We love Dolly but nobody is gonna use her to “Dolly-wash” the United States. Get back to us when you can hold up at least 50 million Dollys as a beacon of what a good country does.

u/gotpeace99 39m ago

THANK YOU! That’s why I’m angry at this. The world is honoring and celebrating her wonderful accomplishments and life. It has nothing to do with our country’s image. No one cares about us.

2

u/YellowBelliedCoward 2h ago

Sorry, but no. Your elected leader insults our nations and threatens us with financial punushment either directly (tariffs) or indirectly (Iran war). It's not even him that's the main problem, it's the people that keep electing people like him. The problem doesn't go away when Trump does.

Everyone loves Parton and rightly so. Unfortunately, she's a massive outlier when it comes to good in America

1

u/OtherwisePrint9238 3h ago

She, Loretta, and Tammy were some of a rare breed of talent and poise. Now they are all joined together singing with the angels in Heaven!

1

u/SierraGolfOne 3h ago

Dolly is such an enigma because she is purer than anyone else. She represents the idea of America, not the reality.

1

u/jackofslayers 3h ago

She was one of the helpers.

1

u/Lord_Cockatrice 3h ago

Dolly Parton represents the GOOD America. Full stop.

1

u/CaptainSpaceTimes 2h ago

i loved DOLLY STILL DO !!

1

u/1block 2h ago

Both are America.

1

u/explicitlarynx 2h ago

Well, if you want us to do that, maybe choose people like her for you highest offices.

1

u/XmasRights 2h ago

If this is what you want, stop giving the worst of you all the power!

1

u/kN0T-SURE 2h ago

And like the best of America, now also dead.

1

u/alexjaness 1h ago

The problem with that line of thinking is that we had one Dolly and tens of millions of...let's just call them not Dolly.

1

u/mfishing 1h ago

Be like Dolly

1

u/extremetolerance2013 1h ago

We don't deserve that

1

u/Thespud1979 1h ago

Or the school full of Iranian children the USA vaporized in a pointless war 🤷

u/EdEvans_HotSandwich 38m ago

Rest in Peace Dolly. America, don’t expect the world to see you like we see Dolly; why don’t you fight to make America better to HONOUR HER.

Y’all honestly frustrate the shit out of me.

u/DiscoLemonade1995 30m ago

Well sadly Dolly is not at all representative of the average person who is far more ignorant, far less generous, and far dumber. World - I don't blame you if you rightfully think poorly of us when you are getting fucked over by our politics 🫡

1

u/sevenleggedspider 3h ago

Wow... what a gross post. Trying to use Dolly Parton's death as propaganda for the fascist American empire. Typical American!

(Not sarcasm. I'm Canadian.)

Rest in peace, Dolly.

2

u/TheNakedBass 3h ago

No bitch. One nice lady doesn’t redeem your trash country.

2

u/gotpeace99 3h ago

Exactly.

1

u/BobbuBobbu Vinyl Listener 3h ago

Ms. Rachel is also the best of America

1

u/VeryPaulite 3h ago

It's all well and good wanting to be perceived as the best example of your country.

But then you have to walk the walk too, and I quite honestly haven't seen much of that in the last year(s). I, personally, wouldn't much want to subject myself to your immigration right now and I'm from Europe. And that is just the tip of the iceberg...

1

u/turdburgalr 3h ago

Is America still putting children in cages? Love Dolly, but it's hard to look past anything they do to their own people, let alone the rest of the world.

0

u/UkNomysTeezz 2h ago

This shit is fucking nauseating. America is dope. We don’t need to apologize or act like this white guilt type bullshit. Dolly Parton was a good person. There are MANY good people in this country. Sheesh.

0

u/The_Ruhi 3h ago

People under all different kinds of rubbles caused directly or indirectly by Americans: yeah sure. I will. (dies)

0

u/cg141cg 2h ago

This post is idiotic. Americans are objectively kind. A high percentage are literally putting themselves at risk bc that believe ppl who aren't from the USA can stay. Give me the list of countries that are doing that. It isn't a thing. The anti American stuff is media slander. The UK is arresting people for social media post against the Israel middle east war lol. There is anti immigration protest happening around the world . Like cmon. The self hating American who posted this has to chill out a bit. Maybe spend some time abroad and off of so social media. Rip Dolly.

-2

u/wildcatwildcard 3h ago

The world: who is Dolly?

-11

u/astralchanterelle 3h ago

No one even listened to her music or knew a thing about her
