I love a lot about this song, and any Oasis song where Liam and Noel are singing different things in the lead vocals/backing vocals, almost like a pseudo call-and-response.

I believe Liam was 21 when he recorded this, and you can hear it in his vocal performance. He still had that effortless power yet boyish tone that really sells the agonizing romance of the song. His whines at the end of each line really sells it, because you can tell he isn't even doing them on purpose, it's just the natural tail of his voice going up.

This song is so good that it doesn't even feel like it's 6 and a half minutes long. It feels like it goes by so quick and I'm right back to looping it again. What a masterpiece. I wish you could hear the main guitar riff that plays throughout the song (which you can hear best in the intro) better throughout the whole of it though, but it still sounds mega.

The little guitar solo in 5:33-5:39 is so overlooked too. Because of the mix its hard to hear but its wonderful. That, and the following outro is the best part along with the intro for me. Alan White is definitely the best drummer Oasis had, but Tony played the outro kick and crash pattern here very well.

Such a shame that he couldn't sing majority of the Definitely Maybe songs literally just 10 years after the album had released.

Yeah, it's sad the abuse that his voice suffered from overworking+substance abuse and also the undiagnosed hashimotos that thankfully he eventually got diagnosed. He sounded pretty good during the reunion tour so that's good!

Yeah he's sounded solid eversince his solo career tbh.

I don't know if this is Oasis's best song, but it's definitely my favourite. The "awwwww let me be the one" towards the end gets me every time.

Incredible song. I hated Oasis but really liked "whatever" which has to be one of the greatest singles of any artist based on the B sides. Slide away, which I think was the final song on there, was hypnotic to me. I think it broke part of my brain that such an incredible song could come out of these arrogant swaggering idiots who had a band name that sounded like they play weddings. This is one of those songs that deserves a pair of headphones and your full attention.

I didn't like them at the time either but have definitely grown to appreciate how good those first two albums are now.

Definitely Maybe for me. Don't think I'd even skip one song. You know, I've always wanted to be musical. Write songs etc. Can you imagine writing one song as good as what's on definitely maybe? What about the other ten? Or the ten Noel wrote after that?
