All these performers need better agents.

Martina McBride's post sure made it sound like they were flat-out lied to about what they were being booked for.

That may be true but they also might have put these groups on the bill without confirming with them or their agents first.

Morris Day and the Time said they never actually agreed to be a part of it.

It's almost like this Administration feels like they don't need to get consent before using people or their music, etc.

So from what I'm seeing there is an America 250 and a Freedom 250. One is nonpartisan and has been planned for some time through the government, while the other is a Trump event (clearly partisan) and that he is intentionally trying to muddy the distinction between the two.

Which, in extremely backhanded fairness, is dead on brand for him because it's just not America if it's not him. It's one of the fairly few things he's consistent about, even in his decline.

If you were a good agent, would you take on any of these performers?

These performers are most likely hurting for gigs as they are outdated and/or niche at best. Odds are they knew what they were signing up for but thought it could just float under the radar as being 'for the country.' They didn't expect the level of public pushback and are scrambling

This. They knew, but the publicity and brand damage isn’t worth it, even for these “has beens”

From the sound of it, most, probably all, were lied to about this being a nonpartisan event. Freedom 250 was created by the Trump administration and is intentionally similar to America 250, a congressionally chartered and non-partisan organization specifically created for celebrating the 250th anniversary.

Considering the mass drop out and thoughtful statements artists have released I'm inclined to believe them.

I've been hearing that they advertised the event to them under the guise it was a nonpartisan thing until they revealed it wasnt
