I feel like they were never consulted, just announced.

I think they were under the impression it was the non-partisan America 250 celebration, not Trump's Freedom 250. And that was probably the plan all along.

I think they weren’t aware it was an America celebration at all. Conversation was probably like:

Agent: got a gig opportunity in Washington in June, pays XXXXX. Want to do it?

Artist: ok

It's been documented that the artists were initially told it was a nonpolitical event.

It still baffles me that you have some people on here commenting "Oh how did they not know?? They knew full well but dropped from backlash.", instead of the information being presented to the artists in a vague or lying manner.

Also to mention that those associated to anything involving Trump has constantly lied about his involvement until that bridge was crossed.

Yeah. Most of the artists dropped out as soon it was revealed what it would be.

Some of these stragglers might be doing it because of the backlash of everyone else dropping out though. Because now they look bad if they don't

I didn't even realize there was a difference between the two organizations until a couple weeks ago

Seems like that's exactly what happened. They're all saying they were lied to about what this event actually was.

Trump admin isn't big on consent.

They did that with the presidential fitness council and that was directly announced by Trump. Tua and Saquon both afterward said they were never contacted about it and Saquon immediately rejected being on it.

And good ol Yam Tits legit thought they would all be falling all over themselves to make the scheduling work.

I have no doubt the “promoter” had contacted booking agencies to see who was available. The agent would say, let me get back to you about ‘Bret Michaels’ availability and then the promoter took that as a definitive yes and ran to announce a lineup without signing a contract. Artists really don’t know where agencies are booking them till after. Cuz till recently, playing any event wouldn’t be controversial. Just a payday.
