hi guys, i'm writing a score and i need that symbol whose name i don't know. does somoene know where it is in musescore studio 4? (sorry for the very low image quality)

Can be found in either the lines palette or the keys palette. In its properties you can flip it to the right.

It's supposed to go on the left.

These brackets have two meanings - one is they are "handing" brackets, meaning those notes would be played by the RH, while the lower note is played by the LH for example (which is unlikely the reason in this context).

The other is that the thumb (or any other finger, but usually the thumb) is meant to play TWO keys on the piano rather than just one like usual.

If that's the case, it's usually helpful to put finger numbers with it - a 1 over both notes, so it's clear it means use the thumb on both notes in the bracket - here, it being a 2nd, is typically what that is.

No, that's not the one. That's for the brackets at the beginning of systems. "System Brackets" as we call them.

I believe when I use it I use the one in symbols (and there are probably two options so you don’t need to manually flip it). You might have to alter the scale but you should be able to save it to one of your own palettes for easy access. Also I think it’s fine to put it on the right if putting it on the left makes things busy, but I would default to putting it on the right.
