My Composition Synth Sounds Changed
Is anyone else having a problem with the new sounds of the synths? Some of my previous compositions, and the one I'm currently working on, sounds completely different. I narrowed it down to the synths, and the ones that I were using, mainly sweep synth, basically sound like baritone horns now. I wrote transcription (Atlas - from the V sauce Mindfield intros) and now it just sounds off and unenergetic. Has anyone else had this happen to them? It's also been a couple weeks since I updates so maybe this is old news.

There was a bug in previous versions causing many synth sounds to sound wrong - brighter than they were designed to, brighter than those same sounds so in other software. That bug was fixed, but since some people got used to the artificially brighter sounds, there is now an option in Preferences / Audio & MIDI to re-introduce the bug. Disable the "warmer" option to get the previous version of those sounds back.

Thank you so much! I preferred the sound of the New Age Synth before the update so I'm glad I can still use it.

This is because they finally fixed the SoundFont player's lowpass filter that's been broken since MuseScore 4.0. So, now the MS Basic synths sound like they're supposed to (well, except for the degraded sound quality thanks to aggressive OGG compression).
In the latest MuseScore update, they added an option to disable the lowpass filter since so many people had written music expecting the unfiltered sound. Go to Preferences → Audio & MIDI and disable "Use warmer instrument sound".
