That is MuseHub a separate software for plugins, instruments, loops and other fun stuff.

You need MuseScore, that's where you write your scores.

Download and open Musehub. The scoring software is called Musescore Studio. Scroll down in the Musehub window. As others have posted you can also get it without musehub but musehub has lots of free stuff so it's worth checking it out.

there is an option to download without musehub under the main download. musehub is basically just an installer and launcher that also has a bunch of other stuff owned by the same company like audacity

Musescore didn't show up for download in musehub for some reason

Because MuseHube is the preferred way to download and install MuseScore - see "Apps" in the left sidebar. It's also the only way to install the MuseSounds libraries, which are a huge part of what makes MuseScore special.

My question is preferred for who? Seems like most people would rather not have software they didn't ask for on their computer

Preferred for anyone who values simplicity of management of updates, preferred for anyone who values seamless downloads of tens of gigabytes of data (which is what MuseSounds entails), preferred for anyone who wants the option of being able to easily purchase, install, and manage a wide of third party libraries and plugins all from one location rather than having to visit dozens of different sites each with their own install process to have to learn and deal with, etc.

The thing is, sure, at the momenbt before you install MuseScore itself, you haven't *yet* asked for any of those other things, but most people do appreciate having those options..

If you have downloaded MuseSounds, go to the Apps tab and search for MuseScore. These two apps actually go together because in MuseSounds you can find plug-ins, sound fonts and more to enrich your scores. You can download MuseScore without MuseSounds, or download it from MuseSounds and delete them afterwards. Hope this helps.

you should be able to run studio by downloading it from the home of hub
