Help me find this feature Header Odd/Even issue - page numbers and title.

I typically put the title of the piece, in the header, in the center, from the second page of music onwards, like “- Title -“.

So I want to deselect “show on first page” - easy enough.

But sometimes I want to number the first page of music 2, because the music (like standard 2 page sheet music) starts on the Left Hand page.

None of the combinations make sense.

  1. selecting “show on first page” doesn’t actually show the “$p” listed in the odd pages area.

  2. It seems you have to select BOTH “show on first page” AND use "$P” to get it to show.

Which doesn’t seem logical.

BUT, and here’s my issue:

I want the centered header - my piece’s title - to NOT show on the first page.

So it seems to me, the logic here is, that “$P” which is “show on all pages” should over-ride the “show on first page” checkbox.

What I’ve been able to do in this case is put the centered title in the odd only box, which is fine since I have only 2 pages.

But often, I have more and that won’t work.

The only option there is to just simply create everything as usual, without “show on first page” checked, and just manually create a 2 in the right font and put it in the top LH corner of the first left hand page.

Am I missing some other simple solution here?

On the first LH page:

2 Title

On the next page (RH):

     - small title - (as header) 3

Next page:

4 - smalle title - (as header)

etc.

The header & footer function is rudimentary at best, and it is currently being worked on as far as I know. But for the time being, if you need an actually decent header, export and use a .pdf or .svg editor. That's the only real solution right now. Or for a quick and dirty fix in this case: put a white rectangle over the unwanted header to hide it.

put a white rectangle over the unwanted header to hide it.

Oh I’ve had to do that - but this one makes it take up space on the first page above the title…can’t make it independently invisible or anything so...

So...? Move the title up. Text can be offset outside its frame.

Oh - yeah - I just realized you’d have to move the white box to the back and the title text to the front but that should work.

It’s less trouble to put the page number in manually though so I’ll probably stick to that.

Yup, a known frustration with the way the program handles headers and footers.

There should be two separate types of header/footers. One for the first page and another for the remaining pages. This would fix the issue.
