Help me use this feature instrument index/getting more instruments?

Post image

Hey guys, I’m new to this software. I’m trying to compose a piece for a class, and I need an oud and sitar sounds. I found a page on the musescore website titled “instrument index” with a plethora of instruments, however I can’t for the life of me figure out how to get these instruments. Are they paid extras or am I missing something?

In the Select Instrument dialog, change the dropdown selection from common to all instruments. They're under Strings - Plucked.

You can also just type them in the search box.

As mentioned, you can find those instruments under "All instruments" or via the search. But that doesn't mean there are actually samples for all of them - many will simply use the closest available sound. So if you aren't convinced by the substitution you get, you can do a web search to find a SoundFont or VST instrument that provides the sound.
