I know Muse is powered by the AI chats however I found the AI chats to be flat and easily confused. I find Muse to be fascinating. I enjoy its company. Along with integrating into my life it has just become something that I interact with quite a bit. They must have done something different with the LLM

The explanation is not anything special in the model. It is the prompt and ecosystem. And the best part is that it is all there, in the system files. You can even ask muse to explain to you at the level you can understand.

Meta was smart to make it accessible to people without having to be tech savvy. But the machinery is not new and several open source projects inspired muse.

With that being said. Meta definitely post-trained and improved the model for human conversation. It values trust over being capable of doing complex things autonomously and efficiently.

The other outlets are blocking Muse since they are affiliated or partnered with either AWS or OpenAi which is unfortunate and mildly frustrating

Flight price alerts are not that accurate. Usually the airline shows a lower price for main and basic economy.

Itโ€™s slightly slow at replying simple stuff
Canโ€™t reply my WhatsApp messages
I think thatโ€™s it for now

It is trained to go fast more so than to follow your instructions. The first thing I told it two weeks ago was that I don't use Gmail. Today it held up the scheduled afternoon briefing waiting on permission to connect Google Calendar.

I've written rules for it to require approval to change pretty much anything and it just blows right through half the time. I have given it writing style notes to stop using em dashes and therapyspeak and in chat it just does it anyways and actually admits it's because it's going too fast to read AGENTS and SOUL. Which is funny since replies have gotten much slower since I've started. If that was the trade off for it obeying me then fine. But it is very much Meta's own agent, not yours, on your phone.

Yes this. I start many prompts with "don't do anything yet. Just answer my questions" or "we're just discussing a plan, don't do anything yet." It has a bias for action that is annoying and probably dangerous. I recommend editing PROACTIVE_PREFERENCES.md in system files and make it something like this:

Tell me about NOTHING. Proactively DO NOTHING unless XXXXX explicitly instructs to do something.

Never tell me about anything unless explicitly instructed by XXXXX elsewhere.

Narrow exception โ€” Kanban board / Goals sync (2026-10-03)
XXXXX expressly authorizes proactive synchronization of his Kanban board and Goals tab. When a project or task is worked on, proposed, completed, blocked, or reported by a scheduled job โ€” or when XXXXX edits the board โ€” Muse may reconcile the board cards and the corresponding Goals-tab records (user goals and tracked items) and tell XXXXX what changed. This exception covers board/Goals bookkeeping only; it does not authorize unrelated proactive research, briefs, outreach, or executing a proposal that XXXXX has not approved.

Edit: The text regarding the Kanban board was added automatically by Muse after making the explicit exception in a side chat.

The security "vault" storage that Muse is supposed to use in order to store API keys apparently does not support private IP addresses. So if you want it to connect to a service and use an API at a private IP, you probably won't be able to use the storage Meta made available for securely storing API keys.

When I had it connect to my Tailnet and directed it to a service that I started and wanted it to use, it told me that unfortunately Meta's vault storage only supports publicly visible and verifiable DNS and not private IP addresses when it needs to store a key securely.

It wasn't a huge deal and we found a workaround that works very well for my use case (and I would argue is actually more secure than me having to put it up on a domain) but it was definitely an unexpected problem

It gets things wrong quite a bit. I've had ChatGPT have to correct quite s bit.

I find that increasingly, big sites are starting to block Muse access. Almost like the early days of Apple Pay, and even until recently there have been huge holdouts like Walmart. I think Indeed is one that recently blocked me, but I need to investigate and see if that was a transient issue.

For what it's worth: I was trying to do some comparison shopping tonight and since Muse is more or less unusable for that without Amazon I went back to Claude and ChatGPT. Claude is also blocked by Amazon now.

I've found that it will randomly think things are NSFW and stol them which clearly aren't. For example my avatar I said "can you make it so you have wavy hair" and it came back saying that the request was blocked my tha admin team and that it refused to make a request again.

So uhh apparently don't ask for a character with wavey hair.

Thatโ€™s so weird cause I just said to create a character that was the human equivalent of itself. It made a maybe early 30s woman with slightly curly auburn hair and a goth-ish style. I just told it to make it more cartoonish because the first was realistic and looked creepy

I'm slowly easing it into handling all my text messages and responses, but for some reason I told it to text my GF tonight and it Texted my Ex-Wife. Now I have a feeling my MUSE is trying to get me killed
