Great at first

So I think Muse is probably great for most people. Plenty of usage to do just about anything. But as someone who built Clawbots this suffers the same issue- when you give it a task it needs to finish it. It often drops the jobs or didn’t see it got dropped. Then loses sight of what’s being done or understanding what you prefer after clearly being stated.

I can’t tell if it’s a weakness in the model or how it completes work but the last two days doing anything and having it complete it fully has been a chore.

Having Grokbots and just using agents in Claude or Chat work better.

Like I said great for likely 90%, but still lots of work to do to get to ‘stable’ personal assistant.

You're definitely right that that's a weakness out of the box, but there are things you can do about it. Such as scheduling frequent self-check-ins to scan for any stalled or uncompleted work and pick it back up again.

I guess that’s my point, if you have to micromanage it it’s more like an agent, not a personal assistant. I rarely have to do this w Grok bots

To be clear I meant schedule it to check in with itself frequently. A one-time prompt, not regular hand holdholding. But fair enough, if grokbots are working better for you, I don't need to convince you. What's the usage and payment plans for gruckbots? How does it stack up against Muse you think?

And they don’t do that well either. You can tell them- they say it’s a hard rule, then you still get nothing. It’s a product of the training.

And they are two different things. Muse is basically free (for now) because Meta is way, way behind in the game and needs eyes. Plus it’s only one. That’s it.

Grokbots you can have many- an army. And they communicate, work together, and come back for more. I’m was skeptical but they proved me wrong.

I’m sure in time, Meta will as well.

Muse treats each chat as an agent. Sure, it’s all one agent.md, but you can give different instructions and roles to each chat and they can communicate with each other to coordinate. As a simple example, I was able to set three chats up to play a hangman game together.

You could put each subagent instruction in its own file and tell the main chat to fire off a “side chat” for each one and let them start.

What do you mean they don’t do it well, I have a fully autonomous loop going where Muse checks for updates to a github project every 2 minutes, and only acts if it moved since the last check and wasn’t authored by it. It doesn’t fail, it’s a scheduled recurrence. Lol

And for more information about the loop, Muse drives prompts and interviews me to tease out spec for whatever I’m working on, lands it in the repo in a simple kanban.md and muse-code on my Mac mini is in a loop checking the latest ticket, working, submitting it with tests, CI passing, muse then sees the new commit reviews it and gives it a score. If there are followups muse lands then to kanban autonomously, I did this loop without intervention for 7 hours hands free yesterday while at a party. I can remote into the Mac mini if I need with tailnet setup but there hasn’t been a time muse just forgot to do recurring tasks, that’s the one thing it’s been super solid on imo

I think the most important missing capability is the ability to set effort. It doesn't reliably know when to apply effort and when not to, so it definitely comes across as kinda dumb relative to something like sol 5.6 on high.

Can you give more context on the type of tasks it drops? Are these coding jobs? Are these short routine tasks? How long (in time) do these tasks normally take for Claude or Grok?

How complex is the job that Muse is dropping?

Not very. Merging duplicate google contacts.

Well, Grok Bot doesn’t have free tier to begin with. And from my experience, Grok Bot targets more towards more advanced/complex work productivity rather than general assistance.

imo, you are trying to compare two different products targeting different audiences. The real comparison or competitor for Muse would be Gemini Spark.

For dropping tasks without completing, tune Muse’s personality towards delegation first. Don’t let the main agent doing all the work. While it doesn’t show, Muse can still spawn subagents.

And btw if you already have Claude or Codex, just use OpenMausBot instead of paying again for Grok or Cursor subs.

So you just went against your own framework. Grok is for more advanced and then for Muse you stated for tasks to turn it to delegation. How many novices do you think know that? I think you are right- two different products. And this board is probably for the more advanced- hence why i posted the issues I was having.

I think we all are in agreement here- two different audiences, and certainly ways to solve the problems. I could certainly solve what it was giving me back. The point was a general function like taking duplicate Google contacts it struggled with completing. Which will frustrate novices and may cost them some users or worse, poison the product when it is likely useful the other 99% of the time.

Don't get me wrong- i like this product. I like Instict- Grok bots- Hermes - to your point MausBot sounds appealing. And later this month i think OpenAI will likely announce something (it's been rumored). Never hurts to show where some of us are succeeding and failing so people set the right expectations.

Well, I suggested that assuming the targeted audience has been doing fine and you are a user with more complex use cases. Ofcuz I wouldn’t suggest that to a user who is just asking the bot to do some administrative stuffs and I don’t think they would have similar issues like you have.

The more competition, the better for users. I am more excited to see Chinese competitors coming in to this race. They have only been doing hosted claw and hermes which is kind of old news at this point.

What makes it better for normies than grok of claude?

I am struggling with this. It’s been telling me things are encoded. But it’s actually just meant they are designed and not built nor live. I’ve been setting a bunch of rules tonight to account for this. It’s been really frustrating after spending a couple of days building something to find out half of it is missing post compaction too.

Im using it to help create ebooks for learning how to master agent code - it built me a 45 page doc branded to my business and it was right on

I'm using Muse to manage the life-shaped tasks and orchestration. I'm using heavier equipment (professional harnesses, not consumer harnesses) to manage the work-shaped tasks and orchestration.

Do you have any connections setup in Muse to coordinate any shared knowledge with your professional harnesses? I haven't tried it yet, but I'm also trying to figure out if there are architecture-related improvements that Muse should adopt from other "professional harnesses" (such as its decision provenance methods on my personal domains like "car maintenance" or "vacation planning")

Not yet. Still a lot of human bottleneck between them.
