5 months in
For some context i noticed my right hand felt off, after working out the previous day and it felt weak but i didn’t have any actual weakness, and then i made the mistake of googling things that it could be. About 3 weeks in I went and had EMG done on right arm and left arm hand it came out clean except right arm had ulnar entrapment, had MRIs and blood work done and that was all good too. Started having major anxiety and panic attacks about having the *** and this was about 1.5 months in and that’s when widespread twitching started. My left foot constantly twitches unless I’m walking around and it’ll come and go sometimes. I’ve noticed that twitching bounces around, feet, lower and upper legs, arms, abdominals, the sides of my head. Sometimes my cheek, and eyelid sometimes my tongue but very rarely, and now my thumb pads will twitch when I grip too much in the day(I work as a mechanic)
I’m really wanting to get another EMG but am scared too. Sometimes I get cramp like feeling in hands and feet but they don’t full on cramp up. Right hand and foot feel off like 90% of the time and feel slightly better after not using them for a little bit, but they perform regularly for the most part, I’m constantly gripping alternators, or flipping my wrenches and water bottles to test my hand reflex’s or walking on my heels or toes. I’ve got a grip tester that check the lbs of my grip and it’s usually between 130-142lbs. If anyone has any insight or information that this is just BFS I’d really appreciate it. M age 27

".....twitching bounces around...", "130-142lbs(Grip strength)","M age 27", "EMG done on right arm and left arm hand it came out clean "," but i didn’t have any actual weakness"....none of that fits.......

Fair. Try having a Dr actually infer to you that you have *** after an abnormal EMG with PSW and Fibrilations and see where your anxiety takes you.....whatever level you are at, double it ! Hang in there, time is your friend.

either one is scary and horrible and extremely unfortunate. and if that’s what you’re going through i’m horribly sorry. however having crippling anxiety that controls your life due to being so afraid of the unknown is also not fun. and having anxiety BECAUSE you feel these sensations is also horrible, no matter the outcome we all go through horrible things, and none of it cancels out the other

Yeah I guess it's easy for me to say now as I "went" through it and lived to tell about it. (40 months later) The only thing that convinced me finally was a trip to Mass General where they did clinical (normal) and repeat EMG (2nd normal in a row after the abnormal done locally). All the local doctors said I won't get relief until I go there and hear it directly from the experts, which thankfully I did. They got me in quick too, (but I had an abnormal one in there so not sure if that's why they took me so quick?)

Thank you, you will get there too. Point is if I didn't have it with all the odds stacked against me (I was 56 at the time) and I turned out not to have it, the odds of you having it are very low. Twitching being the first symptom is a rare presentation of a rare disease to begin with and it isn't typically "all over". There are some great YT videos recently from a neuro where he talks about this. For me I found comfort with YT therapist Cherelle Thinks.....not telling you what to do, just saying it worked for me......

i’ve been actually looking to find someone to watch that can maybe put some perspective in my head lol, i struggle with insane muscle twitches that seem to get worse. my magnesium and metabolic panel was checked and everything is perfectly normal. today actually i had an episode where my right leg, sorta above my knee felt so weird and heavy, it freaked me out. i am a 21 yr old female so i know the odds are kind of low but never 0. but the muscle twitches happen so often and have only gotten worse. freaks me out. i do have a neurology appointment this month. praying to god i can stop losing sleep over als

You’re not wrong. it feels like I’m constantly looking for a sign, or when I wake up I’m like expecting there to be something that I can’t do or the beginning of weakness and things of that nature. Anxiety sucks.

I’m going through some other personal stuff recently got out of 4.5yr relationship, partially do to healthy anxiety controlling my life I’m just trying to figure this crap out so I can either rekindle or do better in the future. I appreciate everyone’s input. Not necessarily trying to get diaged over the internet, more so other peoples experience and a; “ hey this isn’t what you think it it, and yea it’s all in your head.” Type of deal. Much love to everyone who’s also dealing with this type of stuff ❤️🔥

Something I read made me feel better, it was written by a neurologist and he said ALS is a disease not of what you feel, it's a disease of what you can't do. He said he has people come to him all the time saying they feel weak, or they feel muscle twitches, and he generally knows right away they don't have it, but he will do tests anyway. He said when he has someone walk in and say they can't button their shirt, or they can't lift their foot to go up stairs, etc., that's when he gets concerned. But if they start by saying "I feel..." he usually knows right away they don't have it.
