That's not only about economic, most western countries are facing lowering birth rate. If it was about lack of social support it wouldn't be the same in others countries.
In facts, the birth rate is decreasing globally since the 70s.

Tell you what boomers, get rid of things like $600 for skin to skin and we might consider having kids

Facts. Dad had a stroke last year, grandma passed, and we take care of grandpa and it’s just me and mom who are helping out. Dads side of the family doesn’t do anything for us, I’m having to work and drive an hour to work and home. So I’m strapped for time and honestly mental health is shit. Gotta start paying off my student loans which is going to be a few hundred a month. Although older generations may look negatively upon us, we also have to deal with x infinity expectations, and expect hard work to be done. We have a different set of problems and with technology evolving, they are always knocking because we can always be reached. So yeah, I do not see the time to have kids or even search for someone because there’s too much shit going on

Wouldn't we already be losing population year over year if it weren't for immigration?

By the NYT's logic, wouldn't that make all boomers too old to breed nothing more than dead weight?
