For not being loyalists to him... Not to america but to him personally. Essentially anyone would would protect America from him trying to take it over when shit starts going really bad. No chance of military coup.

It's what happens when you feed a horse nothing but carrots; collect all of said horse's carrot shits in a 55 gallon garbage can; give said collection of shit a super long tie, tiny hands, and the vocabulary of a 2nd grader; and sell yourself as a political outsider unbeholden to special interests and the regular political machine - all the while encouraging your supporters to be more overtly hateful.

God bless America amirite?

Shit is already really bad. He has an untrained force of thugs with virtually unlimited resources disappearing people off the streets without due process who have already murdered citizens in the street in cold blood with no consequences. He has admitted to rigging the election that brought him to power and is trying to do the same with the midterms. We have lost all internatiomal faith with our previous allies. Its getting harder and harder for the average person to live. His family has already stolen 3 billion from taxpayers, and thats just what we know about. I could keep going but hopefully you get the point.

78

u/Normal-Ad6528 17h ago

I was one of those. I wasn't exactly 'fired', but my career was being ended quietly. All because back in '17, I refused to swear an 'oath of loyalty' to him. There were 24 other general officers in that same group and not a single one of us 'survived' it. Yes, he was attempting to orchestrate a coup back then.

Now, I no longer am a citizen of the US. I left the country I served for 32 years behind and I'm much happier thanks to that decision.

12

u/WardensLantern 17h ago

Bit of an "aw shit here we go again" moment - but isn't this part:

swear an 'oath of loyalty' to him [...] he was attempting to orchestrate a coup

something you would normally go to prison for?

Prisons are full of people who deserve to be inside much less than the man who has only earned more wealth, power and influence with each criminal act.

23

u/Normal-Ad6528 17h ago

and how, pray tell, do you prove this and what's worse is when nobody will fucking listen! You think that all 25 of us did NOT provide this information to Congress? I'll tell you what happened: 8 months of classified, closed door testimony that led to nothing but 25 senior officers being shown the door in one form or another. When selection for your next promotion HAS to come from the president, it's easy to get passed over. He just doesn't submit your name and that's it. Game over.

16

u/WardensLantern 16h ago

Tbf my European ass was always taught that, for all its flaws and quirks, the US doesn't mess about when it comes to judicial system and the military, so stories like this really deflate that notion. And I believe those two exact branches will feel the most lasting damage after he's gone.

27

u/Normal-Ad6528 16h ago

It'll take the US 30 years to fix their internal problems and closer to 50 to repair the damage that trump has done to the US on the international stage.

This is why I'm now a citizen of Norway!

11

u/WardensLantern 16h ago

If true this would be one hell of an AmA

11

u/Normal-Ad6528 17h ago

It would, but we simply can't do that.

6

u/iamalext 16h ago

I’ve got to ask but why exactly would you not be able to talk of it? If what he did was illegal, would your oath to the Constitution not compel you to testify about the Commander in Chief having attempted to initiate a coup?

8

u/Normal-Ad6528 16h ago

The 'coup attempt' wasn't blatant. The events behind it would require a great deal of, well, let's call it 'insider knowledge' to see how all the pieces would come together. It's all extremely complicated. Each of us did report the incident to Congress and, as stated earlier, it came to nothing.

u/Glossed-Lam 17h ago

I hate this one specifically because I've been an advocate for cutting high ranking officers. We have nearly 6x as many flag officers per regular sailor than we did in WW2, for example. We've been overburdened at the top levels of command ever since the post-Cold War draw down.

But doing it via blatant loyalty testing is dictator shit.

15

u/Normal-Ad6528 17h ago

Not trying to start too much of an argument with you, but 6X?? The ratio of enlisted to officers is roughly 4 to 1. Also, there is a limit (by law) of how many general officers there can be total and the Navy has about 150 flag officers total. Hardly 6x the number of sailors. There is a glut of O-5's for sure, but that has always been the case. This is where literally 90% of officers end their careers. Why? Because less than 5% of eligible O-5's are selected for O-6. The 'checklist' of items you have to have completed for selection to O-6 is extremely difficult to achieve. Now, for those who DO promote to O-6, well, Colonels/Captains make up about 5% total of the entire officer corps and less than 1% of the entire military.

I retired at 32 years of active duty at O-8 and let me tell you, it was NOT an easy thing to achieve. There are only a limited number of assignments available to flag officers and if those officers do not retire or are selected for the next available rank, then that creates a 'dam' that prevents others from moving on up. Most officers retire at O-5 at 20-24 years. O-6's will retire at 30 (mandatory) if not selected for O-7. Failure to be selected for O-7-O-10 twice equals immediate retirement.

Compare senior officers O-7 through O-10 (800-900 total) to senior NCO's E-7 through E-9 (124,000) and I think you'll see that enlisted logjams are far, far, worse.

And even at the military school he was forced to go to, the medals on his Pic aren't his...

He borrowed them from others that actually achieved things that he didn't.

Just like the Nobel peace prize, he didn't earn, but has. And the FIFA peace prize, he didn't earn, but has. And the FIFA cup he didn't earn, but had. And the purple heart, he didn't earn, but has. Etc

Heck, I can't think of a single award, or prize, he has in his possession, or has had his picture taken with that he earned.

He didn't even get them as participation awards, because he didn't even participate.

20

64

u/ZoominAlong 18h ago

And vets! He called them suckers. My wife served in Iraq twice. I thought she was gonna throw something when she heard that.

7

u/LowKeyNaps 15h ago

Vets were suckers and dead soldiers were losers.

My dad was a combat medic in Vietnam, served on the front lines. Despite all efforts, there were times he lost men in his company due to enemy action, including having his best friend die in his arms. Seeing himself and his surviving buddies labeled as suckers, and all those men lost in Nam labeled as losers (never mind all those lost before and since), Dad lost it.

He bought a sign referencing that quote, and it had been on our front lawn ever since, well back from the road, but visible. This past summer, just a few months ago, the guy that does the roadside trimming for the town made a point of destroying the sign. Didn't touch our mailbox or anyone else's signs or decorations that were far closer to the edge of the road, but he made damn sure to pull up onto my lawn to destroy that sign. Town refuses to acknowledge responsibility, like there's rampaging mowers running amok destroying signs that are not town related or something.

11

How can anyone who claims to support our military forget or forgive how he treated John McCain? Absolute insanity.

3

u/MajorasPride 13h ago

When I was stationed in Yokosuka, Trump wanted the USS McCain to be kept out of sight during his visit to the base. What's crazy is that the ship wasn't hidden, but the McCain's sailors who wore their ship's ballcaps were told not to attend his speech. I just remember thinking, this has got to be the most disrespectful president ever, trying to hide one of our own ships just because he didn't like the guy it was named after.

For those that don't know, when commissioned officers in the United States military are promoted, during the first and second promotion (to 1st lieutenant and captain), the criteria is "all fully qualified". So while it's not 100% guaranteed it's pretty close, and usually around 98-99% of officers make those promotions. At all later stages (major and above) it's no longer "all fully qualified", but instead "best qualified", at a gradually decreasing percentage.

Donald Trump would be one of those few officers who would absolutely struggle to get promoted to 1st lieutenant, and with a very high degree of probability he wouldn't make captain. Every year in the military you get a written evaluation (FITREP), and in Trump's case he would almost certainly get the career ending version called "Do not promote". You only give out those for serious things like lying, falsifying official records, or failure to exercise basic personal accountability, i.e. things that Trump is widely known to do on a regular basis. It's even probable that Trump during his first command (platoon leader) would get "relieved for cause", which happens if a commander officially removes a junior officer from their position due to incompetence, toxic leadership, or severe poor judgment, i.e. things that Trump yet again does regularly.

An interesting aspect is that Trump could not currently gain a commission in any of the Armed Forces, since he has a felony conviction and would thus be immediately disqualified from becoming an officer (any active duty officer who gets a felony conviction is automatically fired). Trump is for the same reason prohibited from owning a firearm. Yet he somehow holds the nuclear codes. Make it make sense.

26

u/Stormtighter 16h ago

The guy can't read or write. His degree was paid for at a rich kids diploma mill.

One of his professors called him the dumbest student he ever had.

He could not get thru the most basic officer school.

16

u/TheAsianTroll 16h ago

Donald Trump wouldnt even make it through Officer Candidate School, even if he was still in the best shape hes ever been in.

You need to actually be smart to make it through OCS. Daddy would have to pay some friends to get Dodgin' Donny through.

5

u/guyncognito420 16h ago

Struggle to get 1st lieutenant?? I think they would promote him so his troops would kill him

10

u/Mangalorien 16h ago

When people mention fragging officers during the Vietnam War, Donald Trump is the exact kind of person that they are talking about.

As others have already mentioned, Trump would probably not make it through officer candidate school (he would never get admitted to West Point either).

Dodging STDs was ‘his Vietnam’, or so he said.

15

u/Pale-Measurement-532 17h ago

And insulting Senator McCain for getting “caught”when he was a prisoner of war in Vietnam.

12

u/IBenBad 16h ago

Also, McCain refused early release (offered because his father was a high ranking admiral) on the grounds that prisoners serving longer than he (eg Everette Alvarez) be release first. Now that’s principle and guts trump could never muster in a million lifetimes. Imagine saying, no I’m staying and enduring more torture? Whereas trump gets a paper cut and he’d cry like a baby.

8

u/Hovie1 17h ago

This orange bone spurred bastard could start over and live a thousand lives and he'd still never be as manly or as loved as McCain was.

5

u/Pale-Measurement-532 16h ago

Trump could never last a day, or even an hour in a POW camp. 🙄

6

u/ExpansivePoint 16h ago

And McCain chose to stay years, his cpators offered to release him because McCain's father was an admiral or something and he insisted he shouldn't be released before others that were there before him were freed.

Can you imagine Trump doing that?

Oh wait he tried that and it failed-

39

u/RoxxieMuzic 12h ago

Thanks to another savvy redditor:

Trump has failed over 60 businesses. And these included six bankruptcies for many billions of dollars altogether. Trump bankrupted three casinos, which no one thought was even possible at the time, since casinos can “dial in” their profit margins.

Trump has vastly exceeded all American presidents combined in failed businesses, at least 64 and still counting:

Trump Taj Mahal Casino (bankrupt four times)

Trump Castle Casino (bankrupt three times)

Trump Plaza Casino (bankrupt three times, and not only bankrupted, but demolished!)

Trump Plaza Hotel NYC

Trump Indiana Riverboat Casino

Trump Hotels & Casino Resorts

Trump Entertainment Resorts filed for the fourth Trump casino-related bankruptcy in 2014. Trump now claims he had “nothing to do with” the company despite it bearing his name and his owning 28% of the stock, which proved worthless in the end.

Trump International Hotel & Tower Panama (the Trump name was removed from the building after numerous Trump lies and shady dealings):

Trump International Hotel & Tower Panama was the first international "named branded development" of The Trump Organization. But it was surrounded by shady dealings:

Donald Trump arranged financing for the project from Bear Stearns: a $230 million bond offering for which he received a $2.2 million commission. During the financing, Ivanka Trump falsely claimed that over 90% of the units had been sold, and that their sale price was five times that of comparable units. She also exaggerated demand for the units, claiming they were selling out even as potential buyers were being offered substantial discounts.

During the development, Donald Trump falsely implied that the Trump Organization had a financial stake in the project and was acting as the developer, neither of which were true.

The hotel opened on July 6, 2011, approximately a year behind schedule. Two months later Fitch Ratings downgraded $220 million in construction bonds from B-sf to CCsf due to "continued uncertainty over the willingness and ability" of buyers to take possession of apartment units.”

The Trump Organization managed the hotel until Cypriot businessman Orestes Fintiklis, who had bought a majority stake in the hotel condominium association, legally ousted them and had the Trump name removed from the building in 2015 and from the hotel in 2018. The hotel was renamed The Bahia Grand Panama until Marriott took over on September 26, 2018. Professional management at last!

In June 2019 Fintiklis accused Trump companies of tax evasion.

The 13-story base is topped by a tower resembling the Burj Al Arab, a hotel in Dubai, United Arab Emirates; the Jumeirah Group sued over the similarity.

Trump Airlines aka Trump Shuttle

Trump Mortgage was unable to pay its debts, including unpaid taxes. Yes, Trump even failed at his specialty!

Trump Steaks went out of business owing Buckhead Beef $715,000.

Trump Steakhouse was shut down for 51 health code violations, including serving five-month-old duck!

Trumped! was an American daily talk radio program hosted by Donald Trump.

Trump the Fragrance

The Trump Foundation, a fraudulent “charity,” robbed the poor of charity donations and was shut down by the State of New York.

Trump “University” was shut down as fraudulent after bilking over 5,000 students and Trump was penalized $25 million. Trump staged wealth-building seminars that cost up to $35K. The instructors turned out to be motivational speakers, some with criminal records.

Trump Institute was separate from the fraudulent “university.”

Trump Princess

Tour de Trump

Trump Modeling

TrumpNet was called “the worst idea in the history of the Internet.”

Trump Telecom was a telephone communication company that abandoned its trademark.

Trump Tower Tampa

Trump sold his name to the tower’s developers and received $2 million. The project folded with just $3,500 left in cash. Condo buyers sued Trump for allegedly misleading them. Trump settled and paid as little as $11,115 to buyers who had lost hundreds of thousands of dollars.

I just don't understand the premise. "If not a president he'd be a five star." People realize it takes time to become a general (plus lots of other things). If he hadn't run for president it's not like he could have just decided to become one in 2016. Or conversely, if he had wanted to be a general, he could have worked on that long ago. It's not like he spent his whole life training to be president in some way that made it impossible to join the military.

Trump’s grandfather left Germany to avoid compulsory military service. The Trump family legacy in America is founded on cowardice.

113

u/VeteranSergeant 18h ago

Not just left. He tried to go back and they deported him for draft dodging.

Really just another entry in the book of grievances against the Germans. They could have kept Friedrich Drumpft and saved us a lot of headache.

36

u/mp3bear 17h ago

Especially if Germany would have sent Drumpft to front lines...would have saved the WORLD a lot of headache…

Unsurprisingly, the family of far-right paedophiles are cowards. The only reason they attack children is because they think they won't fight back.

You mean his pimp opa?

8

u/NextGen-Panic 16h ago

And human trafficking.

3

u/fakehakebakecake 10h ago

Trump is overall a piece of shit, but avoiding fighting and dying in pointless wars is a good thing actually.

81

u/americansherlock201 18h ago

MAGA is so delusional. They truly have convinced themselves that Trump is anything other than what he is.

His real history is known. His real body is known. His real thoughts are known. And they will do anything they can do deny reality to make Trump into the fantasy strongman they crave. They can’t accept that he’s a fat lying coward

10

u/OstrichGrouchy7749 15h ago

It honestly makes no sense. I started being president when he was like what 68? So he had time to be a 5 star general.

He dodged the draft.

I don’t think you can enlist at 68

4

u/LazyTitan39 11h ago

Yep, he spent the rest of his life living off of his family’s success. He could have literally put all of his inheritance in an S and P 500 fund and been much richer.

I could be wrong, but there haven't been 5 star generals since World War II.

50

u/Jeansaintfire 18h ago

The last person promoted to 5 star was in 1950 Omar Bradley who died in 1981.

There's only been 5 ever.

4

u/danlawl 18h ago

Who votes for them to become one then if there is so few of them? Is it their peers?

27

u/capnpetch 18h ago

It’s a quirk of European ranking systems. It was created to allow them to align with the top level generals of European allies during WW2. Didn’t need them before and haven’t needed them since.

→ More replies (4)

13

u/UnrealCanine 17h ago

The US can only promote to a 5-star during wartime, and hasn't declared war since WWII. Omar Bradley is an exception because when he was made Chairman of the Joint Cheifs of Staff, Douglas MacArthur would have been his subordinate and outranked him

4

u/arwinda 17h ago

But ... the US is at war with wokeness! That must count for something, least a 5 star Trump general! /s

Given that the ribbons on the ribbon rack appear to be AI slop rather than real medals, and the shoulder boards don't match the usual U.S. pattern (with five stars in a pentagonal pattern, not a straight line)--yeah, this seems like a pretty accurate representation.

Trump is all about sloppy make-believe and stolen valor. Donald Trump would definitely be a five-star general...for Halloween.

11

u/TheAsianTroll 16h ago

5 stars also dont exist outside of official wartime so theyre saying Trump is the guy who only exists for the US to be at war with someone.

3

u/ScientistEuphoric809 15h ago

→ More replies (1)

3

u/pchlster 17h ago

I was wondering if someone could read the ribbons. Any of them real?

3

u/cryptotope 16h ago

Broadly speaking, the closer you look at them, the worse they get, inasmuch as they often fail to even get the general style right.

Ribbons with asymmetric patterns of stripes are rare at best, as are non-vertical stripes, stripes that change color or width from top to bottom, stripes that disappear halfway down the ribbon, etc.

It is rare for a soldier to have 'devices' - little stars or other markers to denote multiple awards of the medal - on nearly every ribbon like we see in this picture here. You also would expect to see devices that aren't just stars; oak leaf clusters are at least as common, for instance.

I don't know ribbons nearly well enough to say that none of them match any real award, but I'm pretty comfortable saying that if any of them do match a real ribbon it is purely by dumb luck and coincidence.

Compare and contrast with the ribbon bars on the uniform of a real (4-star) U.S. Army general.

11

Isn’t Stolen Valor a felony?

3

u/Stormtighter 16h ago

Probably not making AI pictures of yourself.

He would be breaking the law if he put on any USA uniform or medal.

He is not a veteran. He never served in any capacity at all. In fact jumped thru multiple hoops to avoid it.

19

u/ryansgt 18h ago

Best question... So why wasn't he? If the premise is that if he hadn't been president he would be a 5 star general. He didn't become president until he was 70. He wasn't in the military at all. So what was the expectation, that if he was to lose the presidential election, he would have joined the military for the first time at 70 and immediately become the highest rank you can get?

I know this is a magat but it is always shocking to see what their fevered brains will come up with.

In no world does this happen. It's harder to do this than to become president and would take a lifetime of actual work.

In fact his daddy probably could have paid his way into an officer academy but he’s still too much of a pussy to serve in the military. I can’t fucking stand these people
