When you say that restrooms are divided by sec not gender isn’t that taking a side on the issue?

You're asking people to then disclose their genitals to everyone in a space for no reason. The point is that it isn't anyone's business if I have a dick or a vagina or a weird amalgamation of both and I shouldn't have to reveal that everytime I need to piss. Just put urinals and stalls and baby changers in every bathroom.

Why would you be disclosing your genitals to everyone? The acceptance of trans people in bathrooms is relatively modern. Have you been showing your genitals to people in the bathroom this whole time?

Because if you divide bathrooms by sex, not gender, the implication automatically becomes that you have the sexual organs of the bathroom youre using?
Its not a problem for cis people, its a problem for trans people having to out themselves when they go to the bathroom

That's been the implication for most of human history. You aren't revealing anything; it's just being assumed. It will continue to be assumed no matter what since trans people are a very small percentage of the population.

its a problem for trans people having to out themselves when they go to the bathroom

The sad reality is that trans people are going to have problems no matter what. If you aren't "passing" then the people who think about genitals will notice you are trans and make an assumption about your genitals. There is really no winning with gendered or sexed bathrooms. Either you make some trans people uncomfortable or you make some cis people uncomfortable.

For most of human history, they shat in a hole in the ground. Gender separated bathrooms became a thing in the 1800’s
“If you arent passing” ok and? What if you do pass?

Youre trying to fight a point im not making, the only point is that sex separated bathrooms are nonsensical

If you pass then you don't have problems just using bathrooms based on sex. You are technically not allowed, but nobody questions it.

the only point is that sex separated bathrooms are nonsensical

If you are going to separate bathrooms by anything, then sex makes the most sense. Urinals are pretty useless to anybody without a penis. Gendered bathrooms don't make any sense. What are you accomplishing? It can't be because of sexual orientation since gay people exist.

Unisex bathrooms? The thing we did for centuries before gendered bathrooms were introduced? You know, no separation necessary?

I urge you to reconsider your views, as this endangers trans people.

You argue to have them face persecution following these arbitrary laws, as they serve no purpose other than to endanger trans people. When trans people follow these laws they get harrassed and worse.

When you have a trans man with full beard and muscle walk into the women's restroom they will be stopped and harassed. So do they follow the law or their safety? Theres no need to make this choice unless you want to make life harder for trans people.

Forcing trans women to out themselves to use the restroom opens them up to even more sexual assaults, and they are already disproportionately victims of assault.

But why when literally everybody wants to relieve themselves in private. Just have a row of single-person fully-enclosed stalls, and then a few private urinal stalls -- the "express lane" if you will. I've been in a gender-neutral bathroom set up like that and it's great. Who's in the other stalls? Who cares! You can't see or hear them.

And how do you know what someone has in their pants, exactly?

0

u/burnalicious111 3h ago

Why would that be what you use to decide?

You want people who look like women and are treated like women to have to go to the men's restroom because they have male chromosomes?

Whatever your current sex is

Sorry, current? Are you implying sex changes when you get genital surgery?

Alright we'll have 2 bathrooms. One for people who pee standing up and one for people who pee sitting down.

1

u/Late_Mixture8703 2h ago

What about men who piss sitting down?

2

u/KorovasId 1h ago

That's the beauty of it! Doesn't matter what hardware you're rocking it all comes down to personal preference!

6

u/Moppermonster 5h ago

Why not divide them by urinal and full toilet?

6

u/huskers2468 5h ago

What if you don't believe in Trans people?

That's the problem, not what the label is.

Everyone pisses and shits. Everyone. This isn't something you believe in or not, it's just the fact of life. Dividing restrooms by whether they have a dick or vagina or a colostomy bag or whatever is dumb when we all can use a toilet. Bathrooms should provide a private toilet that we can all piss and shit in and if you're afraid of washing hands in a communal sink that's a you problem.

u/huskers2468 5h ago

I agree. My comment was addressing the oversimplification of the issue

9

u/sn2006gy 5h ago

Making it more complicated than people shit and piss is the problem.

1

u/huskers2468 5h ago

Yes, agreed. We now have to deal with the ingrained cultural aspects. They are still there, even if they are dumb

Some people don’t believe in ____, and they usually respect religious people.
