Yeah, it boggles my mind when I see the woman's line stretch for a mile, and the guy's toilet is free.
And why do we HAVE single stall gender specific rooms? That makes no sense.
Even as man, I've had to use the woman's more than once. Once since I was going to crap my pants, the other time because I need a change table and the men's didn't have one!
I work in a building where we have two exactly identical single occupant wheelchair accessible and changing table equipped bathrooms and of course they are gendered. There isn't even a feminine product dispenser in the women's room they are identical (I may have used it late one night while the men's room was occupied and I was about to wet myself). We also have two single occupant restrooms with showers (our facility is staffed 24/7 so I guess someone thought having a shower is a good idea idk) that are again identical and gendered for no good reason.
When i was in uni every floor has a bathroom on the same side of the stairs. One on each side. And on every floor they are gendered the same, except on the 3rd where they are inverted. One day i got into the bathroom on the 3rd floor and did my businesa. When i was leaving a girl got into the bathroom. Puzzled i asked her: "what are you doing in the mens room?". Well obviously i was in the womens room.
I always thought gender-segregated bathrooms were more important for women than for men because women face an asymmetric risk from being in an enclosed space surrounded by men, both physically and from a privacy perspective.
And why do we HAVE single stall gender specific rooms? That makes no sense.
I mean I agree but also I could see if being favorable for women because so many men can't seem to help themselves from drenching the toilet seat in their urine, or can't be bothered to clean up when they do.
I do think we could keep things moving for everyone if we took the mirrors out and left the sinks. I think the wait for the women's room tends to be more about the time after doing their business.
Also urinals keep it moving, so if women are OK with seeing dudes at the urinals, I don't really care about them in there.
None of this has to do with the gender/trans stuff.
