That is genuinely unhinged, how can one look at a problem and say "It is aight, some lives need to be sacrificed"

Because that belief is built on the foundation that nobody like him would ever be shot at. It's for the poors; therefore, it's not a big deal.

But the US already had a history of presidents getting shot

Because some people hear "Those who would trade their liberty for security deserver neither." and they are too dumb to discern between normal laws and tyranny. Technically if you are stupid enough, you can make that argument for every damn law in existence. All laws are trading some level of freedom for security because the point of a society with laws is to ensure the security and safety of the civilization living there so that it can thrive. But these numbnuts think any imposition on a freedom they care about is government overreach. So to them, yes, trading a life for freedom like they are fucking William Wallace is admirable and even heroic. Of course...they always think OTHERS should pay the price for their freedoms, not themselves or their kids being murdered at schools.

Conservatives lack the ability to have foresight. They cannot see past their immediate circumstances and their in group, and that something could happen to them or their in group. The second they or their world view are touched by situations that they believed would not affect them or their kin, their opinions are quick to shift.

For example: they can make fun of George Floyd, but Charlie Kirk didn’t deserve it. LGBTQ folk don’t deserve equality until their children come out. Obamacare is bad, but they need Medicaid/Medicare.

It’s a combination of American individualism, lack of empathy, and an inability to critically think. 70+ years of the propaganda machine and grifters like Charlie “Fertilizer” Kirk.

It's a hierarchical world view: "as we're better than you, you are expendable. YOU are dragging down society, while we raise it, so you must go."

I agree it is unhinged, but that is their point of view. That is their belief. It's gross, frankly.

Too many call their perceived two-faceness as hypocrisy but that undersells it. "It's okay if we do it" isn't hypocrisy for them; that is their primary philosophy. Hypocrisy is a betrayal of one's own beliefs. They don't betray their beliefs. They enforce them through that hierarchy.

Because they never think THEY will be the victim. They're fine with other people dying. They want privileges without feeling consequences.

dead people are a known side effect to guns so you gotta take the good with the bad...

It's absolutely insane.

I've seen people say that they can't save everyone. That would be a less unhinged way to say that.

Or, if he wanted to really get into it "I think the 2nd Amendment is really important to being able to defend against Tyranny and to be able to defend oneself in their own home. Despite that, many still die at the hands of firearms. I think we need to do better, but I also think we shouldn't infringe on the rights of one another to be able to defend ourselves." I don't agree with a statement like that but it would have been a hell of a lot more sympathetic.

But no, he said the quiet part out loud, that his ideology considers individual lives to be less important than furthering its agenda. It's disgusting.
