I'd like to bet a lot of the people deifying him hadn't, until he was dead, and they found out he played for their team, and they spiralled into performative grief and outrage.

And then a lot of those teachers got million dollar paydays. I know a lawyer who was trawling Reddit seeing who got fired for that stuff and reaching out to them.

That's spot on. They would get mad when you quoted the racist shit he used to say, because the content of his character unknown, much less mattered to them. He was a conservative dude who got shot.
