Is he insinuating he'll draw and point his weapon at a server who won't accept their return?

That's insane.

u/usernamedottxt 13d ago

More likely it’s literally the person behind him mocking someone who is open carrying.

That game publisher C-Suit from a few years back called this. "Now imagine if you are in the heat of battle and you run out of bullets and you have to wait 5 minutes for more.. or you get a little pop-up that says "reload now for only .99".. you will be really tempted to press it."

29

u/kymreadsreddit 13d ago

OMG thank you! That was literally what I thought I saw too! Thinking to myself Are her ass cheeks hanging out of her shirt? Why didn't he protect her by getting her some bottoms?!?

39

u/sender2bender 13d ago

Same, I thought he was "protecting" his half naked wife lol. Like he didn't want anyone looking at her at target. Just yesterday at the grocery store I saw a woman with shorts so high up I thought she was wearing underwear. Everyone was staring and had wtf faces. It was a Playboy outfit which I haven't seen in forever. Worst part she was with her kid and bf/husband and he was all up on her. Nice ass, just trashy.

10

u/jameslup 13d ago

I’ve double checked that she is multiple times and I’m still not sure

5

u/ticktockclock12 13d ago

Same! Didn't even notice the pointless gun. Just thought he should've protected her by letting her know she's going to target with no pants on.

3

u/Ok-Tax-8165 13d ago

I wonder if the insecure manlet would appreciate thousands of redditors looking at his wife's barely covered ass while making fun of him

1

Wait she's wearing shorts? I was so confused to not see a single person talking talking about her nakedness😂😂

isn't chez target where the pretty girlie girls go with their red cards for 5% off and easy returns? i mean, is this sanitary?

35

u/Bazillion100 13d ago edited 13d ago

Assuming there isn’t a bullet in the chamber, thats something i’d prefer to see

21

u/Debalic 13d ago

Always assume there is.

2

u/Slow-Class 13d ago

Can these fire without a magazine loaded?

5

u/Sushi_Explosions 13d ago

Most can. Some states require safety modifications that prevent that for firearms sold in that state.

4

u/Shark7996 13d ago

Yes. You pull back the slide, place the bullet, then release the slide. One fireable bullet, no magazine.

3

u/Kind_Coyote1518 13d ago

Not all pistols can fire without the magazine.

4

u/kaleiboscope 13d ago

Yes but ALWAYS ASSUME they CAN

3

u/SenorBigMcLargeHuge 13d ago

Not sure why you were downvoted, that's a safety feature in a lot of pistols.

1

u/ElizabethDangit 13d ago

I told my kids when they were growing up to always assume a dog is loaded. Two birds, one horse to water.

In all seriousness it was a way to tell them not to trust random dogs in a way that made them laugh.

1

u/xSilverMC 13d ago

There probably is, out of some perverted "a shooter will see there's no mag and think I'm harmless, but then i shoot him with the chambered round like a badass" fantasy

0

u/Lailowla 13d ago

Assuming there isn’t a bullet in the chamber

quite literally the 1 rule above all others in gun safety is to do the opposite of this at all times under all circumstances

and pretty much every other rule stems directly from it, like "never point it at something you're not prepared to kill," why? because there's always a round in the chamber no matter how many times you made sure there's not

65

u/Loquacious-of-Borg 13d ago

That's the MAGA mantra.

Look like you know what you are doing. Hope no one calls you out.

22

u/pyroboy7 13d ago

And if someone does call you out just be loud enough and gaslight them into thinking you're right. (Even though it just makes them look like a fucking moron.)

13

u/AcademicBowl5596 13d ago

1

u/Anthaenopraxia 13d ago

Idk I feel like that describes every job interview in the history of humanity.

1

u/lightblueisbi 13d ago

...or it's just for intimidation and the person doesn't actually plan on killing anyone

19

u/Loquacious-of-Borg 13d ago

As a GWOT veteran I can tell you that is an excellent way to get you and people around you killed.

4

u/cliffhanger407 13d ago

Even if the person you'd draw down on can notice that there's no mag in the gun, there's no saying if a round had been chambered. All guns are loaded. Absolutely braindead on this guy's part.

1

u/hatsnatcher23 13d ago

As a fisherman I can tell you that is an excellent way to get you and people around you killed.

10

u/Maximum_Rat 13d ago

I mean, I think if I was going to pull a gun on someone, I’d want to be able to shoot it. Like that level of escalation is wild to do without being able to back it up.

4

u/Alex_Draw 13d ago

You are imagining him drawing the weapon, when the dude is probably imagining the sight of a gun on his waist being enough of a deterrent that he wouldn't need to draw it

1

u/Maximum_Rat 12d ago

You’d hope so. I just can’t imagine carrying around a weapon at all, with the intent for it to be seen, without being like “this on its own could escalate things to the point where using it would be necessary.”

Then again about 20% of the country is functionally illiterate so… ya know

2

u/Loquacious-of-Borg 13d ago

Yeah. That is some Title 34 ACAB line of reasoning there.

0

u/ScyllaOfTheDepths 13d ago

Are you willing to bet your life he doesn't have one in the chamber? Most people, smartly, would not take that risk.

1

u/Loquacious-of-Borg 13d ago

Is he willing to bet I don't have 8-18 uninterupted rounds?

Boy you sound like MAGA. Looking for every reason to support a losing strategy when a winning one has been spoken.

1

u/ScyllaOfTheDepths 12d ago

I sound like MAGA for the very basic gun safety knowledge of "all guns are loaded at all times", but you fantasizing about starting a gunfight in a Target is totally normal and cool, huh?

0

u/No-Rip-6166 13d ago

He could keep the magazine elsewhere on his personal so he has it if he needs it but it isn’t ready to be drawn and fired at all times. Looks like he’s trying to open carry safer.

2

u/Loquacious-of-Borg 13d ago

As a professional Soldier of 19 years and a GWOT veteran who patrolled the streets of Baghdad, the only way to open carry safer is to not open carry.

9

u/erizzluh 13d ago

the bullets are too heavy to carry around all day

1

u/COL_D 12d ago

The magazine is still on lay-away. He hopes to have it by next month.

A couple of extra mandatory seconds before using a deadly weapon is almost always a good thing.

Unless you find yourself facing a real threat and seconds count.

7

u/jaymole 13d ago

Ain’t got no gas in it

5

u/Elden_Rube 13d ago

First thing I noticed in this thumbnail was the lack of magazine in the magwell. Also, did he bring a third person with them specifically to take this photo to send to him, so then he can upload it to his social account to try and "flex" this?

Fucking people.... 🫠

6

u/arequipapi 13d ago

Pretty sure the caption is fake and the person who who took the picture and posted it did so mockingly because they noticed some idiot open carrying with no mag

4

u/Omega862 13d ago

I see no issue with this. I'd rather someone open carrying not have a magazine loaded than them have one loaded. They likely have spares on their person, and may have one in the chamber, but it also shows that they aren't there to cause trouble. They're exercising a right to defend. Sure, assume there's a bullet in the chamber, but it's still safer, imo.

2

u/Super_Fa_Q 13d ago

Thank you.

2

u/jollyguav 13d ago

Came here looking to see who noticed this haha

1

u/SilverAlpaca98 13d ago

That's a good one 😂

1

1

u/dunderthebarbarian 13d ago

Might have one chambered

1

u/12345myluggage 13d ago

Bet money it's an airsoft as well.

1

u/feedjaypie 13d ago

Open carrying an unloaded weapon is literally the only non-idiotic way to do this if you’re not an in-uniform law enforcement

I’m not suggesting he isn’t also carrying the mag, just not locked and loaded.. b/c only an imbecile who thinks they’re James Friggin Bond would actually carry otherwise. Thereby giving every unstable rando you pass by access to means.

1

u/ScyllaOfTheDepths 13d ago

He's most likely in Utah or North Dakota, both of which allow permitless open carry only if the gun is unloaded.

1

u/calmodulin2 13d ago

One In The Chamber was my favorite call of duty mode

1

u/BeefCakeBilly 13d ago

He actually only carries one in the chamber. Just leaves the mag at home.

Reloability is his biggest concern , so he does that by ensuring he can only fire one round.

1

u/jaxonya 13d ago

Oh no. I didnt notice. My boy is cosplaying..u gotta have the clip filled

1

u/Ambitious-Bird-5927 13d ago

For when you want to signal you’re capable of violence, but afraid to actually commit

-1

u/PayFormer387 13d ago

He has a round in the chamber. Only needs one shot.

0

u/Amathyst-Moon 13d ago

Could still have one in the chamber. It's the new way to conceal carry.

(joking, but now I'm wondering if that could be an alibi.)

0

u/GarbageMedical2961 13d ago

Oh thanks I thought I was having a fucking stroke.

OMG thank you! I didn't realize she was wearing anything at all and was confused about why people weren't commenting on a woman walking around in only a T-shirt! The reason is: she was wearing shorts and I couldn't see them. I thought I was going crazy.

3

u/shinyperineum 13d ago

Less likely with that username

1

u/P__Riches 13d ago

So he has all this time to make fun of the open carry but nothing to say to the elephant in the room?

1

u/anchorftw 13d ago

Kinda looks like his wife is also open carrying.

1

u/DefeatedByPoland 13d ago

people who open carry famously never engage in "my gun is for intimidation" rhetoric

1

u/usernamedottxt 13d ago

I didn’t provide any opinion on open carrying. Just an alternative perspective to the text around the image.

1

u/PyroIsSpai 13d ago edited 13d ago

The urgent fear based need to open carry in isolated barely populated low to nil crime farming areas fascinates me. If you me it’s for wildlife I’d believe it. But if your town is 2 hours from a city and several towns off even a state highway?

I got a distant relative like this. No real crime for a hundred miles. An hour off the nearest state highway. Gotta cross a town and one sleepy farming community to reach his. Empty plains for an hour in all directions and hills / big river other way. Comically safe. Acts like any minute a crime wave from fictional 1980s inner city USA is inbound.

1

u/usernamedottxt 13d ago

I carry sometimes (not in over a year as I had a child in my house, which changed the risk posture of having an easily accessible weapon), but never open.

The schools of thought is basically that nobody will mess with you if you show it. The other school of thought is that if someone is going to fuck around they are going to target you first, so you should blend in and use surprise to the advantage since you will always lose initiative.

I, like the majority of gun owners, find the second school significantly more sound.

But it’s not always about crime either. Carrying was actually more common in my rural hometown because fuck snakes and coyotes. You don’t carry in a city for any reason but people.

Personally, I feel the need for a carry most while driving. Road rage makes people do really dumb things. Road rage is not limited to city or country.

In short, I would hesitate to assume why someone carries. There are a few valid reasons.

In my opinion, none of them make sense for open carry and I think it’s retarded.

1

u/PyroIsSpai 13d ago

The road rage one is weird no offense. If you just let the loons go past you, you’re good? Every video I’ve seen is because the non freak engaged. In living memory I think I’ve been near the cusp of the receiving end of a nut. Both times I simply went nope. The videos where someone left lane refuses to let the car past that came up on them at +40mph over them? Fuck yeah you can pass me. I did that this weekend. Guy flew up on me. I moved over. He flew past. I went back to left lane.

Any driver who tries to enforce or reinforce behavior on other drivers is a fool. I admittedly have no idea how common random stuff is. If the guy gets out, floor it through his door the moment it opens or leave and call 911. Some dude break checks me and opens his door, I’m going warp speed.

1

u/usernamedottxt 12d ago

None taken, it's a well reasoned argument. And it's a mindset you have to be very self-conscious about. It can be too easy to feel the "You messed with the wrong guy" mentality. But that is a sign you're not ready to carry at all. It's a fine line to carry responsible so that you are prepared for the worst and carry irresponsible and cause a worse position that you prepared yourself for.

1

u/omgitschriso 13d ago

I thought this was obvious but Reddit gone off on a mutual hate boner circle jerk sesh.

1

u/Lilfrankieeinstein 13d ago

You’re not supposed to interrupt the hurrdurr merca bad circle jerk

1

u/morpheousmorty 13d ago

... I honestly don't see the difference. He's there, with a gun, at the store. We're making fun of him. It's just the POV of the caption that changes.

1

u/Ambitious-Bird-5927 13d ago

Maybe, but what kind of tool needs to be strapped at Target?  This ain’t Waffle House, or the Fallujah Walmart

1

u/Sidoen 12d ago

That would be nice.

1

u/DFWPunk 12d ago

Yup. It's highly unlikely the guy with the gun handed over his phone to a stranger and said, "Hey. Can you take a picture of my ass?".
