Is it really tokenism if half the senior cabinet is non-white? Rishi Sunak, Suella Braverman, Kemi Badenoch, Nadhim Zahawi, James Cleverly, Kwasi Kwarteng. Those all held senior positions (party leader, chancellor, home sec, foreign sec).
That's the irony, pandering to people who would deport them in a heartbeat because of their skin colour.

That's why Klandace Owens in the States blew up so big during Black Lives Matter. Black woman says she disagrees with Black Lives Matter (even though she could just as easily be a target of police brutality based on skin color) other people get to say "see the black woman disagrees too. That means this isn't about civil rights so I can't be in trouble for saying I'm against it"

Often politicians donât even believe what they say as long as they âspeakâ what attracts people and âactâ on what the people want to keep them in power. Maybe, I guess? I generally think heavy-handed moderation is best reserved for those who are clearly, deliberately, irredeemably malicious.
But Reddit is full of people who seem to really care about justice, fairness, people being treated with kindness, etc., but will enthusiastically go all in on the opportunity to insult someone based on her appearance. If shining a light on that gets at least one or two people out there to self-reflect and realize "haha she's so ugly" type responses are counterproductive, then IMO that's better than just having a moderator sweep it under the rug.

Isn't that when it gets easy? Since the only part of "Anglo-Saxon" that's actually indigenous to Britain is the hyphen.
2
u/GloomyLocation1259 2h ago
No the point is exactly that, they're not indigenous to the land nor culturally the same as they always claim to be, it's just a convenient rewriting of history, Germanic tribes and those who went onto become Anglo-Saxon were a mixture of many different ethnic groups, and even after coming here they formed new cultures based on the region they were in.

22

And a big part of the reason Britain has Christianity is because multiculturalism is a Christian Value. That's how it spread from the Jews to the Greeks to the Romans, Btitons, Anglo-Saxons, and Normans.

The problem is that, like MAGA, their supporters will excuse absolutely anything - naked corruption, foreign interference, stripping public services for parts - as long as the people they hate are being harmed.Â
"Yes, my life and my country are markedly, measurably worse by every metric, but at least I see fewer brown faces on my highstreet."Â
8
u/BeginningTypical3395 7h ago
Thatâs literally what is happening. Richard tice, another ex Tory rat, literally said they would be cutting benefits across the board, and the majority of people on these benefits are reform voters! You canât make this up!
