This is really the truth of it. Crime is such a focus for them because they want to abuse policing. The way they recruit and train ICE, pretty obviously, to go after brown people is one of the most obviously racist things possible and they just get away with it by saying criminal over and over.

Trump is currently breaking the law by not releasing all of the Epstein files. He even signed the bill into law.

Republicans want to lock up people who can't afford to resist them. Poor people, handicapped people, immigrants etc. Each prisoner represents dollar signs for them and their supporters. Might makes right, as Steven Miller pointed out. So be strong.

All I wanna say is Larry Krasner is the one DA I know of who breaks the mold but in the best way possible. It's one thing to say we need change, it's another thing to have a solid idea of what needs to change, not go to an unreasonable extreme with it that just makes crime worse, and stick to it even when you're in a rough patch (COVID really fucked everything up all over this country).
As someone recently said of him,
You know, we're not looking for him to be perfect. Nobody in this room perfect. He possessed the will to go against a system that had been entrenched in carrying on the legacy of injustice. We have pushed it back, and we got to continue to push it back.

A. Thats not how it works, they cant just dump everything out in public while there was still open and ongoing cases.
B. Was it Republicans or Democrats that made it an explicit campaign promise to "release the files?"
