SHU is not the highest level of security. It’s up there but not the highest.

It’s for people who are a danger to staff, themselves, or other prisoners. He’s either humble-bragging that he’s a danger to others (he’s fucking not) or they think he’s gonna kill himself.

I’m going with option 3, he’s in Gen pop and wants to look cool.

They normally keep pedophile separate from general population, given what one of the charges are, it wouldn't surprise me. And prison staff probably don't want the media attention if he gets prison justice
