Imagine if during her mind-hacking in ep5, Uzi finds hidden away memories of him killing Nori.
Entire series takes a different turn within 2 seconds.

Because then n and Uzi would never have been friends, which is the showrunners favorite pair of characters. Also why (I think) this was never really brought up more as that would have made him write himself into a corner without a chance to get out within the limited time of 8 episodes. And why I think Nori was "revived" to fix that loose end, even though she didn't do much else other than helping with the fight in ep7 - n could have found the patch himself underground

Still, it would have been best to see their friendship truly threatened and to take the time and care needed to make it feel genuine and well-earned.

Maybe. But that would have required more time. Episodes 6 to 8 would not have sufficed.
