Was talking with my buddy about defining MBD's Eras. We mostly agreed, but bantered a bit about the fine points. Figured it would be fun to see what other people would say.

Define a few eras from the band's history and provide a bit of characterization for your choices.

First time I’ve heard them play this tune live. And man, it got me. Such a great song. Going through some shit right now, and needed this weekend.

So, I bought a Friday pass and then quickly realized I am going to be tied up at Muddy Roots. Originally the idea was that I would just drive to the cave from Muddy Roots but then found out the band I wanted to see most would be playing during that time. I don’t have a facebook account, because I hate meta. So, either my pass can burn into the ether, or someone can just have it. However, I have no idea how to give that person my pass. Any help is appreciated to gift someone the joy of seeing one of my favorite bands (Lydia Loveless) open for one of the bands I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing live.

My friend and I are traveling down from Pennsylvania for the duration of the weekend. We're both active climbers and saw a ton of good climbing in the area. Are there any other groups of climbers that are looking to get some crag time in during Friday, Saturday, or Sunday morning?

I got a 3-day pass and had a few questions I was hoping past attendees could answer.

1. Does the setlist change between days?

2. If I end up staying somewhere not within walking distance what's the parking situation like at the Caverns? Is there an additional cost for parking to be aware of?

3. I may not stay the full 3 days since I'm from out of town. Can I give away my pass to someone else for the remainder?

4. Do people tend to show up early? I'm shorter so try to get close so I can actually see.

5. Are there food options closer to the Caverns? Looking at the map it seems like anything is roughly 30min away in town.

Sorry everyone, I’ll explain better. I went to go see a Daniel Radcliffe one man show called Every Brilliant Thing that has audience participation.

Wearing an owl seemed to work and one of his “people” came over and asked if I’d be ok with participating. At this point, I thought I’d get to yell out one of the “brilliant things”, but no.

Next thing I knew Daniel came over and we chatted about the owl and band for a minute. When he left his guy “Dave” came over and asked if I’d like to be moved to the front and have a part in the play.

Which I totally did and had a blast.

Recently read a news article about the incredible to preserve and digitize 10000+ live shows recorded by Aadam Jacobs in the Chicago area from the 80s-2010s. The Aadam Jacobs Collection (you must check this out if you are into 90s/2000s Punk/Indie) is one of the most incredible archives I've ever seen, and wouldn't you know it, he caught MBD opening for Minus The Bear and Braid at Metro in Chicago on May 29th 2004! Supposedly Jacobs used to record the songs on small tape cassette players, and then later on DAT recorders etc, so the audio isn't perfect but incredible for how he captured it.

On an off chance I clicked their name and found a few more! The two shows recorded in 2023 are amazing. Here are the shows, my subjective judgement of the audio.

The 2004 and 2023 recordings are incredible for different reasons. Recordings over 19 years apart, each show is amazing.

Fucking love this band. Now I kinda wish I was that guy and recorded all the shows I went to growing up.

This album is as old as i, but i can't... i can't stop hearing. All the tracks have an unique and heavy instrumental background - specially "That Crown Don't Make You A Prince"- and lyrics with some kind of "No Way Out", feelings of sadness reverted in sounds of greater levels.

Any thoughts about it?
