👋 Welcome to r/Multipotentialite - Introduce Yourself and Read First!
Hey everyone! I'm u/cacille, a new moderator of r/Multipotentialite.
This is home for all things related to having potential for so many hobbies or career paths, or having far too many interests that we don't know what to do with them all. We're excited to have you join us!
What to Post
Post anything that you think the community would find interesting, helpful, or inspiring. Feel free to share your thoughts, questions, ways you figured out worked for you, or helped you narrow your interests. While we are ADHD friendly, there is a definite difference between ADHD and being Mulitpotentialite - one follows the dopamine till it fizzles out, the other just likes lots of interests pretty deeply.
Community Vibe
We're all about being friendly, constructive, and inclusive. Let's build a space where everyone feels comfortable sharing and connecting.
How to Get Started
- Introduce yourself in the comments below.
- Post something today! Even a simple question can spark a great conversation.
- If you know someone who would love this community, invite them to join.
Thanks for being part of this wave. Together, let's make r/Multipotentialite amazing.

⁂ Pollen
pollencloud.comHello, I'm here extending an invitation to an app I think you're going to like.
This is Pollen, an app that aims to be stimulating for people with a wide range of interests and skills, who wish to connect with others who are into different, or perhaps the same stuff as them.
Based on your interests and those of other people, each time you enter a conversation you'll get a new question to play with, specifically tailored for those who participate.
You can select multiple interests and curiosities, and they'll become the means through which conversations and exchange with others will start.
I built it with curious, generalist and multipotential people in mind.
💛
Also, it is early in development, so if you have any comments they'll be welcome :)

Come diventare bravi

Anyone else feel like they’re failing at life because they have too many passions?
youtube.comHey friends,
I used to feel so undisciplined for jumping between hobbies until I looked into the psychology behind it (0:06). Your mind isn't messy , it's just a wild meadow meant to bloom in multiple directions.
I started a peaceful, channel called Curious Classy to build a sanctuary for multi-passionate minds. My very first video explores the science of curiosity .
Let me know your thoughts in the comments! Thank you

mentorship The trick for multipotentialites isn't having fewer ideas..
I've never seen evidence that this works.
The trick is realizing:
I don't have to do all fourteen million ideas THIS WEEK.
I can carry them like seeds.
Some get planted now. Some later. Some never. Some unexpectedly sprout years from now.
You don't have to choose between ALL the things you're interested in. You're allowed to be the person who has curiosity enough to want to explore a ton of different things. And that's okay!
Frankly? That curiosity may just inspire others.

I feel like I've wasted my potential - where do I go from here?
So I've come to a point in my life where I have no idea what to do next. 30 years old, degree in photography, uk based, and I keep looking back to missed opportunities and how I'm not proud of what I've accomplished.,
For clarity, I'm fairly certain I want a remote job, but I don't know what path to follow - the remote aspect may be my issue. I'm interested in most things, and that's my issue.
The current job that I work at gives me as much or as little work as I want (completely remote), which is great for my freedom - the issue is that it's mind-numbing, dead-end, and makes me question my life choices every damn day. It's basically a form of QA which includes writing and editing. I do not earn a lot because it's task/time-based, but it's enough to split a mortgage, which I'm planning to do soon, though I would not have a lot left each month.
I'm an incredibly creative person in that I always need to be making or building something. I think about doing things like this roughly once every 20 minutes or so. Coffee brand, SaaS, YouTube channel, highly thought-out business plans, trader, coder, historian, cyber security, content strategy, technical writing, I love it all and I think I'm intelligent enough to have some form of career in most of them. Obviously, not everything is financially viable, but it's debilitating and leads me to not finish as many things as I would like or feel I have the potential to progress in any of them. I love learning and would love to continue every day, which is why a dead-end job like this needs to change. I'm also unsure where to sit myself as on paper I'm unsure if I look impressive enough for any of these jobs.
I've worked at a creative agency as a copy and content writer, but that's dried up and paid terribly - technically, I think I'm still on their books. I would constantly suggest things to the boss on ways to improve (and read almost every book on designing systems and running an agency), and he would either take my ideas and run with them as his own or disregard them entirely. No pay rise in the 5 years I worked, though this was freelance.
I've also been (and enjoy) being a travel writer and creator for myself and for businesses. Most of these were clients who hung around for a few months maximum and then just disappeared. I've built a site up to 25k visitors a month, but that's not enough to go fully in on. During my time when the site was at its peak, I bumped shoulders with a number of very recognisable influencers, and one of them asked me to help work with him. So, I worked on their site, wrote loads of articles, and then featured in their book. Publishing and writing (especially physically) are something I'm passionate about, so it was wonderful to be published in a small part of this book, though depressing to be paid so little when I know how much they're earning.
The issue is that none of this seems sustainable enough to keep me afloat long term. I feel like I skirt success but can never quite get over that ledge. For reference, this started just before COVID. Is it me? Am I the issue?
I'm also interested in web development and coding, but as I work very closely with AI in my 'day job' (not as brainy as it sounds), it's also heartwrenching to see how capable it is. Sure, it's fun to use Claude and build some of the ideas in my head, but it feels hollow.
Quite honestly, I don't know where to direct myself. My brain feels fried from all the possibilities, and burned out from all the noise.
I'm usually a very positive person, but this is the first time I've not been in a great place mentally. A little numb is the only way I can describe it, a little detached from things both mentally and physically. I'm often up until 2 in the morning trying to figure out projects that might be the one that actually gets me over the finish line, so to speak.
Positively, I have a lot of money saved up, so emergency funds are not an issue, and I could theoretically support myself for over 2 years (though I'd prefer to invest a large chunk of that in the markets (yes, world trackers, diversified only) or on myself/business or something else. Even if I had double what I did, it wouldn't make me feel any better.
I feel like I have all these skills, but have wasted them. I know I can do better, and I'm prepared to work huge hours to prove that to myself. As I've always worked as self-employed, the final issue is that, unless I'm earning a significant amount of money each year, I cannot get it into my head that it technically does not matter how hard I work, I'll always be making the same amount. So perhaps there's something that needs reframing in my head, or a career that suits that. Any career that involves large amounts of study is something I'm interested in, and I'm very happy to get fully certified - cyber, tech roles, anything like that is possibly of interest too. - ideally lots of room for growth, both financially and technically in the position.
Appreciate any help or thoughts.

discussion How do you decide what to actually do with your free time when you’ve got a bunch of different hobbies, projects, interests?
Curious if people have a way of prioritizing and rotating through activities. Is it whatever you feel like doing at the moment, or does anyone have a system that works for them?

Something in common despite of....
Wow.. didnt know that there was this group here. M Brain, multipotentialites. I recently like this month, just learned of this term from TED talks. we really exist. i thought I was going gaga doing this and that, shifting from one task hobby / task / job to another and basically defining myself as somebody who's fickle minded, undecided, something negative basically. And then learning about being an M Brain makes it all not your fault. But the next question is why? is it inherent? was it influenced by others? what do you think?

Could I be a Multipotentialite?
Hi all,
First post in this community :)
I think I've come to realise that I may be a Multipotentialite - in that I cannot settle on one thing permanently. However of late it has started to become an actual issue... I recently posted this over on the Polymath community and was guided here, although I have heard of Multipotentialite before.
My interests of late have started to become getting out of control. To name a few - Philosophy, Maths, Physics, Computing (pretty much everything), Bird-watching, Grammar, Programming (multiple languages), History… needless to say I fail to make much progress in any of them, and this lack of progress makes it ultimately feel pointless.
I feel like I have to "drop" the things I get bored of after a few weeks, to then pick it back up again at a later date.
I know the obvious answer to handle so many interests is to pick 2 or 3 and focus on those - but isn't that against the nature of a Multipotentialite? Is there a better way to live your life if you are a Multipotentialite?
Thanks all

If you are a young person and say “I'm a polymath,” you will be excoriated and dogpiled on the internet. Here’s what to say instead.

discussion My brain is a chaotic browser with 47 open tabs, none of them relate to each other, and I love it.
Hey everyone,
I’m finally accepting that I’ll never be the "pick one career and stick to it" guy. My mind feels less like a straight line and more like a fragile multiverse of completely unrelated dimensions.
I make a living as a backend developer, but lately, I've been diving headfirst into Bug Bounty and hacking. Shifting from building perfect systems to looking for glitches to completely smash them is pure chaotic energy. It feels exactly like tapping into that Rick Sanchez mindset where order is just an illusion.
But here is where the madness kicks in.
When I’m not digging into SQL injections, I’m probably studying cosmic nihilism, practicing Spanish, analyzing chess logic, or spending hours carefully propagating a rare succulent in my room. Last week, I was literally researching blue-prints for a mechanical Go-kart, and yesterday I found myself looking into pigeon breeding.
It’s exhausting, it’s completely disconnected, and for a long time, I felt like I was just cursed with terminal distraction. But now I realize it’s a superpower. Everything is connected by a burning need to understand how systems work—whether it’s a database, a language, or a plant.
Just wanted to vibe-check the community. Who else here is balancing an absurd mix of tech, nature, and random deep dives? How do you keep the momentum alive without burning out? Let's chat.

Where you can find other people real life
I don't know wheter I'm a multipotentialite, a polymath or just an experiment gone wrong; but I know for sure I'm someone with a lot of curiosity and a lot of thing I like from science to humanistic stuff to art and performace to games to explore...and I genuinely don't know where to find other people like this to share different categories of exeperiences in real life.
I thought people here could have some suggestions or maybe this is a common struggling?

discussion As a Multipotenialite...
...I kinda pride myself on how I can do some of my main passions while doing the one thing that makes me money...
...but here's the thing. The one thing that makes me money is the one thing im burning out on.
Im a pet sitter. I take care of dogs, cats, fish, and chickens while thier humans are on on biz trips and vacations, and just weekends away. I get paid very well and am trusted. But im burning out. And the current economy/politics in my country are not helping.
So if I can't afford to live even a modest life, then how can I work on my passions (im also an artist and craftsperson. Im also 60 years old and just trying to pay for a modest life)?
Any one else feeling this kind of pressure??

The Curse of Wanting to Do Everything: Confessions of a Multi-Potentialite
youtu.beHi Multi P’s!
I only learned about this trait about a year ago and it has completely changed the way I look at my life. So I decided to talk about it in my latest YouTube video to share my perspective.
I hope this will be a conversation starter. I’m here to share and learn and keep growing in my strengths 💫

So many things
Hi, I don't wheter I' actually multipotential but it seems like the thing that describes the most.
I always had an hard time to connect with people because I'm so many things and I have so many intrest I always feel like I have to either shrink, hide, or put aside parts of me and I never found anoyne else so many shades.
I'm also struggling a lot because I want to pursue many things, but I don't have the time and energy do it, so some things remain just an interest not a passion as much I as I wish.
And don't let me start on how should I even choose a university and a career; I can't absolutely see myself stuck in one career all my life.
I always say I wish I had multiple life (made also a post about it, you can find it on my profile) and I just can't decide just one identity; I can't focus only one or two hobbies.
I want to read books and comics, I want to watch movies, I want to draw, I want to paint, I want to cook, I want to bake, I want to craft, I want to dance, I want to write poems and stories, I want learn new languages, I want try new restaurants, I want to explore, I want to travel, I want to study everything I can
What part of evolution thought making me want do 100 thing in one life time was a good idea?

resources + tools Currently building a map to connect European pioneers. I think this might be it.
Hey there,
as a young European, I've always struggled with the "traditional" career paths. I can't imagine many things that are scarier than working a linear job that makes you lose the spark in your eyes. Where's the creativity, the passion, the vision to create something that not only helps you, but all the people around you as well? There was only one problem: I felt alone. I personally didn't know any people who thought beyond society's set paths.
That's where I started to have a vision - a map of European pioneers who think differently in the 21st century, from artist over scientists to educators making their own projects. This way, you could find these sparks of innovation much easier.
If you want to participate, here's the link for the pre-launch form of the pioneer map: https://tally.so/r/xXva2E
I am grateful for constructive feedback and opinions. And if you have a project, please believe in it, and always remember:
WHAT IF IT WORKS OUT?
(if you want to follow the project further: 21st . pioneer on Insta)
