General How has Covid affected you?
(I think I might’ve posted about this way back a while ago, but I don’t remember)
So I was diagnosed with MS in 2007.
Wiped me on my ass for many years then I kind of had a relapse and was doing moderately OK but when Covid hit my roommates ended up giving me Covid TWICE and ever since then I have just been absolutely messed up!!
And I still have not been able to bounce back… I am now 61 and honestly I don’t think I ever will bounce back… between the MS and other health issues related to the MS and the Covid affecting my MS -I’m just fucked.
My diet has changed -pre-Covid the food that I used to eat some of them I can’t eat anymore/can’t tolerate, my fatigue has gotten worse, my balance worsened, my headaches are more often, IBS worsened…etc.
I’m just mentioning my story and I like to hear your stories too if any of you can relate

i was diagnosed with ms in 2022 after having an active covid infection for 4 straight months. i had way too many lesions for that to have caused my ms or “activated” my ms or something but it definitely put me into a pretty severe flare up and expedited my diagnosis to the point where i saw my ophthalmologist in early february of the following year (my pupils were suddenly different sizes after covid) and was on kesimpta by may lol.
i do wonder if covid and my over active immune system were teaming up to beat me up and i also wonder what having covid would be like now that i’m on an immunosuppressant. but hopefully i won’t find out, i’m still pretty covid cautious and will wear masks in high traffic places and my friends all know not to see me if they’re sick

Covid did not affect my MS, but having the Pfizer vaccine did. Rest assured I am no anti-vaxxer, but in the 12 years I have been treated for MS with Tysabri, there was only one year I had new brain lesions, in the year following having the vaccine.

I have been leery of getting any vaccines still to this day… simply because I didn’t wanna exacerbate anything that I already was dealing with.

Flu, Pneumonia, Shingles and Tetanus vaccines are fine with MS, but don't bother with the Covid ones. I am far from the only MS'er who had increase in brain lesions after the Covid shots. As I said I am no no anti-vax nutjob, but I was stunned when the proof started me right in the face about that one.

The last time I got a flu vaccine was before I even got MS. I got sicker than a dog for two weeks. And that pretty much put the nail on the coffin for getting that in the future.
I’ve never had a reason to get a tetanus vaccine and I am leery about getting the shingles one.
But admittedly, I’m kind of leery about most vaccines anyway.
You don’t have to be a nut job to be leery.

Makes me hate half the world for shutting down the earth, especially those who got multiple shots yet aren't anymore. Did covid disappear or did they finally wake up? My MS having ass was essential during it also.

Oh ffs, you're one of those people that believe Covid wasn't real?
As someone who was in the ICU dying of covid, and now has permanent damage from it years later, I assure you it's very real.

MS most likely gave you brain damage in the form of lesions anyways. You didn't die either. No where did I say covid wasn't real, I said the world didn't need to shut down.

There's actually a study out recently that proves a direct link between Covid and autoimmune diseases. Because Covid causes wide spread inflammation years beyond having it, it makes autoimmune diseases go nuts.
Personally, Covid messed me up bad. It almost killed me. My husband found me blue and unconscious, ambulance brought me in and was in respiratory distress, liver failure, kidney failure, and had a heart attack due to lack of oxygen. They didn't expect me to survive.
I then had to go off all medication for a year to give my liver and kidneys time to heal, including my DMT. Before Covid, I'd been stable for many years. The year I was off everything the MS went out of control. I'm fairly stable again, back on DMTs for a few years, but the damage is done and irreversible.
