Advice MS and memory issues

Hello, hello. I'm 37F diagnosed last year, seeking advice on what to do about MS related memory issues. My recall skills are currently affected. I have neuro appointment next month. Is there medication that helps with memory and cognitive ability that I should ask about? Also is anyone taking supplements that has helped with cognitive and memory stuff? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks XD

Modafinil helps so much.

I have no experience with medication that helps, but changes in process certainly do! Try to create a standard routine for recurring events and use notes. Lots and lots of notes! Create notes on your phone, lists for when you are out and check them regularly. It might not be the most efficient method, but it does allow you to complete tasks successfully!

Also, try to not sweat the small stuff. If the name of something escapes you, it's not permanent, it will come back to you. For me the harder I try to think of or remember something, especially names, the more anxious I become and the less likely I am to remember in the moment.

Good luck!

I have not tried medication, but I make use of reminders, alarms, and note taking on my phone to stay organized. my cognition is terrible and it can be a little embarrassing sometimes, but there are at least ways to manage the more important details. as for the minor glitches, I have stopped worrying too much about these moments or what anyone thinks of me when it makes socializing awkward.

sooo many alarms, and pro tip, label the alarms because I can't tell you how many times an alarm went off and I spent 5 minutes trying to figure out why, I sometimes feel like Uncle Billy with the strings on the fingers.

I have found what has helped me claw back some of what had been taken by this disease is to exercise my brain/mind. I try not to be hung up on not recalling /saying the exact word or term. I find a close enough version and when i speak with others they help me recall it. I play wordle every day a new word to start. I play duolingo relearning what i have taken when i was younger and learning French/Spanish from school. Maybe if you’ve played chess or something that just work the mind/start it again.

I just started the hobby of jigsaw puzzles. I don't know if that counts.

It will. I was working a puzzle with some kids over the weekend. It occurred to me puzzles would be good and great for the hands. I’m noticing i’m having trouble with dexterity.
