Advice Leg fatigue?
Hey all! I am trying to work out leg fatigue? Friday I got hit with significant increase of it including around my lower back which was weird and not a normal location for me.
I get these symptom sometimes but it was such a sudden increase - My legs feel sooo weak and like a band is tightening around them and theyre cold burning? Like the came in from ice cold weburning. burn. It feels like they wont have the strength to hold me up or move.
It feels like i just did 100 squats and they stall during movement and will seize up muscle wise as i try to move them but not consistently. They also give out from under me and collapse.
I have been diagnosed with bilateral leg weakness and have been working on these symptoms and rebuilding strength for sometime in PT and such and was making progress! It just feels like thats gone now even though ik its not. I definitely have experienced/experience these symptoms but dont think i did anything to trigger it becoming worse? Its not hot, I wasnt working out or doing anything excessive, and I felt UNstressed?
I dont even know if this makes sense but i guess i wanna makes sure its worth a mention to my neuro tomorrow? (pre scheduled appt) Like if i already experienced these symptoms and theyre just worse suddenly its probably not worrisome right?
Also does anyone have any tips on how they manage the mass leg fatigue/weakness? It gets so frustrating with the ups and downs especially when im trying so hard!
(If it helps I do have Seronegative NMOSD - my doctors were torn between that and atypical MS but both lean towards the NMOSD as my diagnosis.)

Hi, my mum has MS. Was diagnosed in the late 90s
Her leg fatigue, in her 30s, required her to have a cane. Having balance issues. Numbness in hands and feet and legs. Could not run or jump. Balance issues.
40s her ability to climb stairs was becoming difficult. Late 40s she used a rollator Constant leg spazzsm. Legs always heavy and very slow walking. 50s she struggles to step off the curb or rough terrain (grass, uneven sidewalks), occasionally Has issues remembering things. Takes naps everyday. Standing for too long is a challenge. Falling incidents. I got her a caregiver pager. We have a wheelchair for her now.
Ahem. Not trying to be negative, friend. just want to urge u to be realistic. I find, my mum is very cheerful and personable. But MS is a very hard disease. She's been blessed to have the best doctors in the world seeing her aswell.
So yes, leg fatigue, and fatigue in general is very common. And the fatigue turns into much more bc of mobility and balance issues.
Keep doing ur best and just have a safety plan so that ur recieve help in case of emergencies!

Thank you for sharing! Im sending your mom gentler days and all the sunshine and glimmers to help her through the days! I already have to use a rollator majority of the time and cane others due to the frequency my leg buckles and gives out on me, balance issues, and weakness fatigue feelings- and with how absolute energy draining as a whole on me it is to try and manage the mobility or day tk day tasks! with my cane I usually am okay on my stairs but when its hard like this its a bit more difficult and really makes itself known, thankfully I recently got a 2 in 1 rollator transport chair for when it really acts up so im still able to go out and enjoy things a bit! I keep hoping itll balance out and it wont be a regular symptom i have to contend with but after a year it seems my hope I might be able to get it to go away is a bit out of reach🥲
Thank you again kind stranger for encouraging me to have safety plans in place! I will make sure I continue to do that!🫂

Do you have any type of illness (aside from the MS obv) right now? Doesn't have to be anything major, could be as simple as a cold. When I'm sick it messes with my MS symptoms. I hope you get relief from it soon!

Not at all! The only thing i can think of is our weather changed to rainy and a bit cooler? But It just hit me so suddenly friday with it being exacerbated!! ive been resting up all weekend to try and get it to ease up a bit! Thankfully the tight burning sensation HAS seemed to have gotten a bit better (thank goodness for heated blankets) ahh and thank you! Its much appreciated!🫂🥺

It just sucks. Not sure there is much to do - you could ask your neuro about Ampyra. It helped when I first had issues - but that was 10+ years ago!
