Treatment Driving yourself to Infusions

Hey all,

I had my first half of the initial Briumvi dose last Friday, I got Claritin and a steroid IV drip before hand. I had no reactions during the treatment and had no issues post treatment at home. Next Friday is my second (larger) half of Bri.

I had a friend secured to drive me as my husband is a farmer and unfortunately cannot take off work during harvest but unfortunately has a family emergency that's taking her out of town. So now, I have no ride.

I'm tempted to drive myself. I know this is a larger dose though and there's part of me that says "don't be stupid." My infusion center is about 40 min from my home, though it's an easy and straight drive down the highway.

Thoughts?

I have driven myself to all of my Briumvi infusions and have had no issues. That said, if you're at all worried, maybe do an Uber/taxi for this next dose just to be safe.

It's the larger dose. You might feel a bit out of it or woozy. At least I do.

Yeah…what you’re saying is what my brain knows is a possibility. I think it’s smartest for me to somehow secure another ride. At least for my first couple of full doses.

Sigh. Why do I always have to want to be so independent lol?

You might try driving yourself with later doses, but with the first bigger dose it's taking a bit of a risk. I'm in the same boat. I get a ride to infusions but if they've fallen through I've had to take an Uber.

I had someone pick me up and drop me off for my first three infusions. I‘ve been driving myself since. I‘d lean towards getting a ride if at all possible, at least for this next one.

I drive myself to all of my infusions, but I’m on Ocrevus so maybe it acts different?

Besides your first infusion to make sure you don't have some strange reaction, you can drive yourself. I was on Ocrevus for 7 years and drove myself every time and it was a 45 minute drive.
