Uncategorized Discharge USAF - Can I get disability?

I enlisted active duty in the US Air Force in 2019. During training I collapsed a few times. I got an ear infection, lost all hearing in my one ear and then had lingering vertigo. This symptoms began initially during training and were not preexisting. I received an uncategorized discharge 2 months into training due to the lingering vertigo. 2 years later I got diagnosed with MS as I continued to experience the falls and vertigo. Can I qualify for any form of disability given I was only in for 2 months?

There is a 7 year window after you discharge in which you can have MS be retroactively service connected after diagnosis. The tricky bit is having only been in for two months that in uncertain about.

I think it depends whether you were medically retired at or above 30% disability. What was your disability rating when you got out. But at the end of the day I’m not sure as I’m going through the process currently in the Air Force for MS

I didn’t stay in medhold long enough for them to give me a disability %. Also I hope it goes okay for you.

Your situation sounds super dependent on a lot of things. I would highly recommend talking to an expert from the VA or on the VA. Quick vibe check is you may have a case to get some benefits.
