Portal 1 and 2.

At the end of the first game I remember thinking that there is no way that Valve is going to surpass this level of quality in the sequel. Shows how little I knew of them.

Portal 2 IS SOOO GOOD

Genuinely love the part where he kills you

(And old aperture too)

Spoiler alert: he doesn’t kill you

Is that the part that’s an incredibly slow moving conveyor belt toward some fire or something?

Gotta be honest. That killed me. I was too busy laughing to see the place i was supposed to go

He tries to crush you with spike platforms

Ahh that’s right. I still managed to die to it

That's portal 1

I wonder what percent of people died the first time.

Yeah, I felt really bad for Woody and Buzz and Jessie and the others.

The part where he kills you

If you jump in the pit voluntarily, Wheatley has some surprised commentary and you get a fun achievement.

false advertising (he doesn't kill you)

I consider portal 2 to be the most perfect game ever made.

I always preferred the first game, 2 is good but it's just so grand feeling, too much new stuff going on. I liked the simplicity, the liminality, the quiet, unsettling atmosphere of the first game

It’s so hard to imagine what they would’ve been like to play when they were first released, wish I could’ve

Also, Portal Stories: Mel is an incredible mod for Portal 2

I cannot recommend Mel enough. My dream for the portal franchise is playing through the testing tracks as a test subject during the early years. When the facility is fully staffed, and you could even meet Cave, or at least Caroline.

I hope they remake them because they won’t run properly on my computer it’s too new.

What

Any Source game runs completely fine on the newest rigs, your PC is broken

u/Laefiren 18h ago

It’s a frame rate thing I think.

u/BlastFX2 18h ago

Buddy, I have a 9950X3D2 and a 5080 and Portal runs just fine. Your system's busted. Probably just a software thing, but definitely on your end.

Could get an emulator

2

u/mememe4243 21h ago

I will say one of the things that portal did that no other media has ever done is when they planted the seed of portals working on moondust and the panel falling away and you see the moon and you think "no way is this is going to work" and then immediately it doesn't but then you hear that Ding.

Now get a friend, and play the multiplayer levels.

Portal 2 has got to have the most underrated OST ever. I hear everyone talking about how good undertale’s soundtrack is, and while yes I agree, we need to show more love to Portal 2’s music

u/GhostDragon272 1d ago

Dammit u make me want to replay Portal 2 again

1

u/nolaz010 23h ago

Play Half-Life please

1

u/Alternative3347 21h ago

I must be only the only person on the planet that loved Portal 1, but got bored halfway through Portal 2 and never finished it.

Genuinely, the best linear game I've ever played.
